ARLINGTON, Texas – Wednesday’s annual Dallas Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon at AT&T Stadium included guests from the team’s glory years in the 1990s and 1970s.

Michael Irvin, the honorary chair, and Emmitt Smith, the Tom Landry Legends Award Winner, were in attendance. So was Roger Staubach, who quarterbacked the franchise’s first two championship teams before the Triplets (Irvin, Smith and Troy Aikman) delivered three more titles.

“I guess with the technology today you can Google us (from the ‘70s),” Staubach joked.

“It was a great period in the ‘70s and I always thank Troy for bringing back the Cowboys in the ‘90s. And Tony Romo is, I think, one of the top quarterbacks in the league. He’s surrounded now with a much better team and I think they’re going to be in the thick of it all year.”

Like Aikman, Staubach has always been a Romo supporter through the years. With a dominant offensive line, skill position stars such as Dez Bryant and Jason Witten, and an improved defense, the Hall of Famer believes Romo has a strong cast around him.

A legend talking about another soon to be legend! :D

They showed Jay the other night on the game with the Texans. He and Mike Irvin were kidding around with fans and Jay had Mikes # 47 from Miami shirt on, and Mike signed it(while Jay still had it on ) and they gave it to a fan. Irvin said what a good guy and friend Jay was and they still hang out together.

Yes... And this season is more than just a feeling.

Romo can't go out like Marino, Moon etc.

I am thinking he goes out like Elway.... Running game and Romo playing within himself. One SB or back to back.

I'm greedy lets win 3 in a row then let Romo retire with 3 Super Bowl victories !!! :yourock:

I think the NFL is do for a course correction.

Cowboys beat Pats in Superbowl.... Simply because the "real" last dynasty must end this farce of a patriots run already. No close game. Buffalo bills-style blowout!

Yes I would like that, those Cowboy -Bills Super Bowls were great..... I have watched all the Cowboy Super Bowl wins. I think my 2 favorite games were the 1st Buffalo game(blowout) and the last Super Bowl Dallas was in Super Bowl 30 where Dallas beat the team I hate the most pittsburg.

Well said Dave. Both those guys are heart and soul Cowboys all the way!

Thank you, Mike and Jay were so important in the 90's Super Bowl Wins, I love it when I watch the highlighted version of "Super Bowl 30 on the NFL channel and see Jay score the first touchdown of the game against pittsburg. Jay was always that safety valve for Troy, and made the tough catches. Miss those two guys a lot !
