News: DC: Scouting Report: What To Expect From Safety Kazee

sold just the word ball hawking centerfielder and his stats prove that out..

cons health..

I’ve watched quite a bit of Atlanta over the last few years

Kazee will get picks often. He will also give up big plays downfield.

I still want Moehrig, Grant, Holland or Uphoff in the draft as a future starter.
I've been wondering why some of the "Draft guys" here say that Moehrig is not a good fit for the team.
You have a clue on that front?

I think @ABQCOWBOY himself mentioned it yesterday, but I could be mistaken.

...just to dont fall for the Rodgers or Wilson long ball twice in the game. Anything more is a bonus of happiness.

Absolutely no idea.

I don’t think he’s going to be an interception machine at the next level, but he does just about everything well. He’s a very well rounded prospect.

Overview: The former college corner turned safety has become one of the best centerfielder safeties in football.

If that's true, that's great, as that single high FS entirely changes a defense.

But I have my doubts he's so wonderful, and will even play much this year. He demanded no money, and got none. His contract is not the price for "one of the best centerfielder safeties in football", even with injury risk. He's only guaranteed around 400k. Chicken feed. A totally disposable player. Even just a lottery ticket on the health of "one of the best" should cost more than that.

I think you get that somewhat with a player who gets takeaways. They take more chances on their skills and instincts, which can get them burned. Players who don't take chances, like Byron Jones, don't give up a lot of plays, but they also don't make any. Both types have their pluses and minuses.

I just hope Kazee is able to return 100 percent coming off the injury. I also want to draft a free safety to groom for the position, but I'm hesitant to spend more than a third because Kazee should be a capable starter and upgrade to what we had.

Moehrig takes bad angles on occasion, I am not sure that he is fast enough. He's a 4.5 guy, if I'm not mistaken. I mean, he's a really good player but you gotta be the guy to play FS in this scheme. You need to be able to walk down anybody, get to all areas of the field against NFL speed WRs. I don't know if Moehrig is that guy.

Here's what I expect, he only played in four games last year but here are the passing stats from those games

Seahawks 31/35 322 yards
Cowboys 34/47 450 yards
Bears 29/51 316 yards
Packers 27/33 327 yards.

Their pass defense was worse than ours and there were several games of ours that I had to look up the CBs number to see who it was.

I haven't made it a secret that I want Moehrig, but I think they will target Holland or Grant, who are Kazee clones.

Each would need a year and I suppose the team can do that with Kazee around.

Saying Grant is a Kazee clone is like saying Moehrig is a Jeff Heath Clone.

Expect him to be at 60-70% and basically rehab his value so he can go sign elsewhere in 2022. He had achilles surgery in October 2020. There is a 0% chance he's at 100% for this season.

Another TERRIBAD cheapo signing by Stephen. The casual fans are all hyped because he has interceptions on his stats page.

At the end of the year I would've said the club wants to re-invent Reggie Robinson at safety under a new DC and DB coach.
And maybe we would be grooming Robinson behind Kazee as a heir apparent.

but if we are re-inventing him at CB from the latest word, then I have no idea what the future holds for Robinson.
Is he gonna be a true project, than a prospect ?

And i'm one of those that don't believe this team will invest in safety early.
If anything he will be another late round pet project to experiment with.

With Kazee, its a wait and see, imo.
With achilles injuries we'll have to see if he can recover fully to his previous form, or if he becomes similar to Eric Berry and his inability to recover from post- achilles injury.

With most ball hawks he can zero in on deflected tipped passes, or errand past from the centerfield, or in traffic catches.
From College at San Diego state to NFL with ATL, the ball just seems finds its way into his hands.
Not the biggest hitter or always in sound coverage. He will gives up some plays,

and what about the depth situation at safety ? If Wilson is injured, I can see resorting to Neal to be more safety than WLB.
But if Kazee is injured ..? who fills in there at FS ?

we have nothing with Darian Thompson, who could even be a roster cut by summers end. Either he's an underneath coverage guy or special teamer.
Still some roster building to do.

This is true. Even Neal is only now a year removed from his surgery. So he should be much better this year than last.
I would not expect Kazee to be able to carry the load. Only a few months removed from surgery.
