FRISCO, Texas – In 1991, Emmitt Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, compiled his first 1,000-yard season in his second year in the league.

Dallas has had some good RB's Smith, Dorsett, ZEKE, Calvin Hill, Duane Thomas. Now we just need Zeke to lead us to some Super Bowl wins like these other guys did, and Zeke get us a lot of them.:):grin:

Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves? Emmitt has 12 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. I would hope Zeke has a few more short-term goals than matching the consistency of Emmitt.

Mr. Elliott definitely has some big shoes to fill and live up to as he plunges into his future with Dallas.

Here's hoping that shoe fits! Thus far, he's off to a flying start, although there's a long way to go yet.

Like Dallas Dave mentioned, the list of Cowboys running backs of the past is a long and terrific one.

May Zeke find the kind of success in the future that he's already had with his initial venture in 2016.

What in the heck does this mean or have to do with the article...guess someone has to start the Mickey hate...stupid post of the day....

Listen to him on the cowboys video shows enough...it tends to be easy to be very...VERRY annoyed by him...sometime to the point that you can visibly see the other hosts in the room just shake their heads at his stubbornness.

Read his condescending articles to fans who complain about a coach or player and how they know nothing while he is defending said player or coach and he can become VERRRY annoying.

Only to see him complete do a 180 turn on said player or coach and lecture the reader about how the Cowboys just had to get rid of said player and coach and everyone should have seen it coming, leaving out the part
about how he was the biggest defender of said coach or player just prior to them getting the can....and he can become VERRRY annoying.

I am defiantly not a hater of this team and I used to like Mickey but good grief he has become so annoying to me on the video shows and how he does 180 degree turns or player or coaches while some how managing to be condescending to fans while doing both. That is a really talent...being condescending to the fans while both defending said player and coach and then when telling you why they just had to go.

A lot of players have tried this, it hasn't happened.

I don't expect Zeke to come anywhere remotely close to Smith's consistency - maybe in the first 4-5 years of his career. After that, I expect like most RBs a quick decline.

Take it back or I'm gonna to have my Mom call your Mom, Jazzypants.

I'm sorry but Mickey is, like I've stated before, a textbook contrarian. Sunshiners are annoying in their own right but then on the opposite side of the spectrum is a bitter, little man who tries to poop on everyone's puppies.

On-topic:
What I didn't see in that article was that Emmitt's durability and uncanny ability of rarely allowing tacklers to hit him square-on, was what allowed him to put up big numbers year after year. If Zeke can stay anywhere near as healthy as Emmitt was, the production is going to be there. The difference is that Zeke looks for contact when finishing off a run. That may not be conducive over the long haul.

***Edit*** Mods, why is the word "sun_shine pumpers" censored?

zeke needs to avoid contact like Emmitt did, I know it looks cool on highlight reels to go head on into a DB, but you also have short careers like Marion Barber

I'll say it right now...Don't expect Elliott to last like Emmitt. Not going to happen 2 differernt running styles...If Elliott lasts another 5...I'll be shocked. Seriously...He's gonna be Marion Barber 2.0.

People need to realize...Emmitt Smith was a freak that might come every 100 years. And I'm not exaggerating. I have the utmost respect for Emmitt Smith. Funny he and I are about the same age. I seperated my shoulder my Jr year (2nd-3rd degree)...playing RB...played w/ it...Drs told me I could do surgery after the season....but suggested not to...So I played my Sr year...first game...bam..seperated again....played all year w/ it.

Now...I know HS and the NFL are different. I'm sure he took the shot...I wish I could have. But HS rules prohibited it...Killed my Sr year..

But trust me...Just banging on that...hurts like a SOB. Trainers tried to literally retrofit me w/ a cast around my shoulder w/ a dounut cut out where my humorous was protruding.

Still...I know the pain that guy played through. Total platinum guts ...shot...no shot...doesn't matter. He played though it...and found a way to bring home the hey in 92-93.

Just an absolute stud....One of the things on my bucket list is to some day get a pic w/ him.

Anyway...Sorry about memory lane...;)

Elliott..

This kid is so Earl Campbell reincarnated/cloned. He is gonna be a Super Nova. And we just witnessed the beginning. The next 2 years are gonna be special. Honestly...If we don't cash in to the Super Bowl in the next 2 years..It will be a travesty...The stars are aligned...The time is now. The team is young...the peices are here....

Question is...as a team do we have the depth? Is Prescott for real? Trust Jeff Heath @ SS? God..I want to believe...

Linehan needs to find ways to "consistently" give Zeke the ball with 6-9 defenders in the box:

Would it be safe to assume the 10 to 11 men in the box are either 3rd and inches situations(heavy set) or at the goalline? (Still waking up)
