GRAPEVINE, Texas – Like the rest of the team, Ryan Williams isn’t sure exactly how the Cowboys’ running back rotation will shake out this offseason.

He’s just looking for an opportunity to take some of the carries DeMarco Murray left behind when he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I think everybody will have a great chance to show what they can do, and it’ll go from there,” Williams said Wednesday at the team’s Annual Sponsor Appreciation Golf Classic. “I never had a chance to run behind that O-Line last year, so hopefully I get an opportunity this year and I think that’ll help my chances showing everybody what I’m really capable of doing.”

Anyone else feel like Dunbar is on the outside looking in right now? I hope Williams gets the chance to run behind this line. He may very well be the most natural runner if he can stay healthy.

I said it in another one of the 100 RB threads, but my excitement/confidence level for this year's corps is ranked like this--

1. Potential upgrade via a trade
2. Joseph Randle
3. Potential free agent Knowshon Moreno
4. Ryan Williams
5. Darren McFadden
6. Potential free agent Chris Johnson
7. Lance Dunbar

After signing Bush and drafting Davis with Kendall Hunter on the roster, I wonder if the 49ers would trade Carlos Hyde

Looking forward to seeing Williams--or, as Stephen Jones likes to call him--Mathews in preseason.

So we have a practice squad guy, a Raider castoff, and an underwear thief all competing for the starting RB job.

Cant say I have much confidence right now in this group to replace Murray.

You can add Subpar Dumbar to the mix - who has never scored a TD since being in the NFL.

This is ridiculous. But its also funny. Because there is a little truth (fear) in it. But it's still ridiculous.

Personally I think Randle was very good last year - way improved over the season before - with the chances he got. Almost excellent (better than Murray) in fact. Can he keep near that performance with 20 carries a game? No one knows.

McFadden is basically a free body with the potential to do a lot of what Murray did with more break away speed. Can he run like he did in 2011? Well, Murray wasn't "Murray" except for 1 year (last year). So it's possible.

Ryan Williams - I have no idea. But the team signed him for multiple years and he got a lot of interest from other teams that he turned down. Not your typical PS player. Strong pedigree, no mileage. This is not chopped liver.

Chris Johnson - former all pro. Ran well last year.

We have lots of options - many as good or better than most teams in the NFL imo.

Again, Murray had ONE good year. Maybe he will have 5-6 more good years. Maybe he'll wind up a HOFer. But right now, he had 1 good year.

Sounds like the breakfast club!

IMO, Murray may regret his new gig the first time he fumbles and the "fans" in philly jump on him...regardless, I am looking forward to seeing what shakes out in TC @ RB...Williams intrigues me, but I still think McRandle will manage the load
