DCF Opinion: Here's My Training Camp 'Fav Five' List

Here's the five guys that I really need to step up their game in training camp.
Let's go fellas I am rooting for ya!
1. Anthony Spencer - He was drafted to replace Greg Ellis at some point in time. My hope is that the time comes sooner rather than later. I would love to see Ellis being used as a pass rushing specialist in 2008.
Some may say that's crazy because Ellis was a Pro Bowler and the Comeback Player of the Year last season as an OLB. To those people I would say this. The only reason Ellis sniffed a Pro Bowl and won that award is because he put up 12.5 sacks. His 31 tackles in 10 games sure wasn't the reason. Getting to the QB is what he does best so why not make that his primary job.
Spencer is more athletic and can cover more ground with his speed so I could see him having a lot more success than Ellis in running down ball carriers and dropping back into coverage. The time is now to make him the starter and let him become a fixture here for years to come. Now when third down rolls around we should always see Ware, Ellis and Spencer on the field.
2. Martellus Bennett - So what if he's just a rookie? The Cowboys need him to come in a play a big role this season. If it comes down to him and Tony Curtis as to who's the blocking TE I have to think Bennett can win that job. If you don't agree I suggest you watch Curtis throw a few blocks.
I don't think he's going to be on the field for any crazy amount of time, but I think it would be nice to know that when he's out there the offense can run smoothly and he knows his job. Then when Romo gets these guys inside the Red Zone we can either have Bennett throw a crushing block or he can use his athleticism to get open for Romo on a play action pass.
3. Kyle Kosier - People always say that you are only as strong as your weakest link. Well it's no secret that we all think Kosier is the weak link on the offensive line. I want to read report after report on how he is taking well to Hudson Houck's brand of blocking and that there's no way these young guys can steal his job.
The one thing I think Kosier did well was move in space and get downfield in tandem to block. That's not really how Houck is going to be doing things anymore. Now we have to see if Kosier can man up and start whipping guys one on one while opening holes for MBIII and company.
4. Roy Williams - Of course he makes this list, he should make this type of list no matter who the author is. Roy needs to show us some signs that his fire to once again be a dynamic playmaker is back. Even if it's a slow progression I will take it. Just give me a few moments where I am once again thinking that opposing offenses will have to worry about where Roy is on the field at all times because they are scared of him, not because they are targeting him.
5. Pat Watkins - No, not Pat Watkins the Safety, but Pat Watkins the new leader of the special teams units. Keith Davis is gone so now Watkins should be the guy to step into that leadership role. He's a veteran and he's been playing special teams since he came to Dallas so he's more than capable of manning this job.
Last season the special teams coverage units were horrible. That has to change and hopefully Watkins can help make that happen along with some of the new rookies coming into the mix.
Training Camp is back again and I'm loving it!
