GRANT INDICTED FOR INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER
Posted by Mike Florio on May 20, 2008, 10:13 p.m.
Saints defensive end Charles Grant was stabbed in the neck during a bar fight in February. And that’s not the worst of it.
Grant has now been indicted for involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor fighting as a result of the events that resulted in the death of Korynda Reed, 23, and her unborn child.
Each of the various participants in the fight were charged with involuntary manslaughter, and the person who actually fired the shots that killed Reed and her child was charged with felony murder and feticide. The guy who stabbed Grant in the neck is facing aggravated assault charges.
This link describes involuntary manslaughter in Louisiana as “misdemeanor manslaughter,” but also points out that the potential sentence is zero to 40 years.
