I don't think that he or Freeney were ever in any serious consideration by Dallas, this is Spears' last stand to prove his first round value after 2007 he might be a backup if he doesn't produce but this is season number three and that means time for results according to the Landry rule.

It'll be real interesting to see how Spears and Canty perform under Phillips as opposed to BP.

Canty especially. I think we'll be able to tell this year if BP's conservative style was holding him back or whether he slid as far as he did not b/c of injury but because he isn't that good.

I think we'll see both of them be alot better, but Spears has alot more upside and has far more ability to rush the passer...Canty was never a good pass rusher in college either...but Spears was a good pass rusher and made alot of big plays at LSU

now with the change in scheme, we'll see all our front 7 guys improve dramatically I think...no more read and react...alot more attack
