I just want to see him on the field, Then I will get excited. It's the same thing with Smith. I want them on the field but I just don't know if we'll see it happen.

Let's wait till TC , let's see if he can get through practice before reinjuring his back.I get Holliman vibes from him, he may never play a down in regular season.

From what I can gather, Tapper did nothing but rest the back and improved his conditioning to get back (no pun intended) to where he is today.

Is that going to be enough for him to play a full 16 games?

Same here. Not going to get sucked by fluff pieces and optimistic nonsense until there is something to see with him. At least Smith produced at a high level and gave a glimpse of what he could do pre-injury.

At the end of the day, Tapper was a fourth round pick regardless.

Yes, he didn't produce two gapping at OU and there is the hope that his athleticism translates. But that is not a given.

Am I the only one a bit skeptical? "Birth defect in a vertebra is now under control" doesn't exactly instill confidence in me. This sounds like something that will possibly flair up at anytime. Extra running in training camp caused him to miss an entire year? No surgery to correct anything, just a year off and some physical therapy as needed? The whole thing spells trouble ahead to me. Hope I'm 100% wrong.
It don't sound that great.

Experience and my money say probably not.

It's gonna be a 100% deal...............Can he play at 100% for 16 games.

Actually, Smith is a middle linebacker that Notre Dame would line up wide as a pass rusher on third and long.
Not consistently. They did at times but he played in coverage more than he rushed the passer. Just FYI he had 4.5 sacks in his career at ND, 1 his senior year. He's not the salvation to our pass rush woes.

He reminds me of Kenneth Boatright. Kenneth was also 6'3 270 and had a neck injury while w the Cowboys.
