Per FWST:

The Cowboys also are expected to add defensive lineman Jack Crawford on Tuesday when they move defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence to short-term injured reserve, according to a source.

Crawford was a 2012 fifth-round pick of the Raiders out of Penn State. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder appeared in 19 games his first two seasons, with 18 tackles. The Raiders’ depth chart listed him as their third-string left defensive end before his release.

My understanding is Edwards was the guy taking the roster spot for the Lawrence spot. At this point I think they cut Cam Lawrence to make room for Toomer and probably Hayden (maybe Bishop but don't kill the messenger) to make room for Crawford.

That was explained in the OP. Tuesday following Lawrence to IR.

You don't have to now explain how Dallas adjusts roster. There are still a linebacker, fullback, and QB that could be considered. Or some other player going to the practice squad as well.

i read that but think its incorrect

That is an alternative for any of the to be signed players. Scandrick doesn't presently count. And the three players on tenuous ground could be a FB, LB, or even an OL.

I know I don't have to, its a free service I provide. Partly because my wife won't listen to me about anything concerning professional sports.

IMO Cam Lawrence is an obvious cut. You are right, it may be easier to move Vaughn to the PS and roll with 11 DL.

Good retort, Kaiser...on the DL numbers, Demarcus Lawrence does go on IR on Tuesday, and that group's numbers even out at 5 DT's and 5 DE's at present with the IR change.

Cowboys signed DE Jack Crawford, formerly of the Raiders.

It's always a bad sign when a player can't make the Raiders' roster, but the Cowboys' defense is actually worse than Oakland's -- and probably by a good margin. Dallas is simply taking a flier here on a 26-year-old defensive end.

So that's two ends, a linebacker, a special-teams safety and a guard we're adding, while only cutting one from the 53.

Have to believe it'll be safety for safety (since we have five) and possibly linebacker for linebacker (with six), while one of the ends will take Lawrence's spot. Since that will still leave us with 11 defensive linemen, I would think another goes for the other end.

If I had to guess, it would be Dixon or Heath, Cam Lawrence and Bishop (it could be one of the ends, but I'm not sure who). The only other place where we have more numbers than we usually carry is at QB. So it will be interesting to see if they try to move Vaughan to the PS now.

There's so many of these recent midround picks bouncing around the league, I'd like to pretend I know them as prospects but in all honesty, I can barely recognize their names.

Good post, its really hard to predict where they cut at this point. My guess would would Cam Lawrence, Vaughn, Dixon and Bishop where they hope to move the last three to the Practice Squad as soon as possible. Its easier to sneak guys through waivers at this point once rosters are somewhat set, hopefully we keep these guys on the PS.

Maybe that's why we've still got there spots open on the PS.

That is funny my wife has those same options and the upgrade that deals with my recreational time after work and weekends.

I am not so sure the Lawrence is the cut. I am in the corner of letting Vaughn go and putting him on PS, after watching other preseason games he does not stand out compared to some of the more experienced waivered QB's.
