Can anyone realistically tell me why Wade Phillips is still walking the Dallas Cowboys sidelines?

Cowher anyone?

Sure, I know most coaches aren't going to be in favor of inheriting a collective problem child but I maintain that the problem with this team is the lack of direction, motivation, and true accountability from the lackluster coaching staff.... Namely Wade...

I'm less in favor of even giving Garrett a shot and most in favor of really shaking things up.

Thoughts?

If Wade makes it to Wednesday, I would be shocked. Nothing about this team surprises me anymore this year but Wade making it to Wednesday would be a shocker.

I'll admit I'd be shocked as well.

A guy like Cowher isn't taking over mid-stream like this. It's Garrett or another assistant or else stick with Wade.

In hindsight, Dave Campo should have never made it to season two, much less season three. He did though.

Why? In my opinion of observing him, Jerry Jones wants immediate results. If he makes a coaching change, he wants playoffs as a result. If this were 2011 and he made the head coaching change this offseason (which is almost a certainty now), he would want to see playoffs in 2011.

This is 2010. Making the change now does not necessarily mean playoffs for him in 2010, so (to him, not me mind you) why should he? He could. The possibility exists, but this is and always will be Jerry Jones whom we're discussing. It is not due to what him, him or her think should happen.

Completely agree with 1st post.

I'd like me a spitting machine Cowher in place for next year.

Doubt Wade is fired early. . . unless for JG, but doubt it.

My nightmare scenario:

Wade gets fired (yay!)
Garrett is promoted to interim HC (hurl)
Campo is promoted to DC (projectile hurl)

You can blame Wade all you want when players have just quit like bunch cowards!! and Quilters. I was high school football team we had own Jimmie Johnson type coach . once got rid of those type players my high school one the best in the state FL. So after this season we need to find the players who quit and get rid them.

I always preferred my custom title of "Dead Man Stalking". This guy just continues to linger and linger.

Not really sure how you could view this as a bad thing, nothing could be worse than things as-is.

They arnt bringing in some new coach and staff now, nobody does or ever has (to my knowledge) DURING a season.

Wade's main asset was his ability to coach good defense, but the defense is a bigger train wreck than anything else now. At least offensively we can point to having a terrible OL and Romo being gone for the year as being a huge piece of the puzzle as to why they arnt as good as expected, Wade cant really say something like that for his defense.

Does Campo even know how to run a 3-4?

It's not happening folks.

Why does it matter who runs the defense.

It isn't about trying to put a good defense on the field because that isn't happening now.

It's about cutting the dead weight.

He's a loser and needs to go.....ASAP!

I mumble or shout this very question every five minutes as I've watched Cowboys games over the past two weeks.

I know it sounds asinine, but be a little realistic here. The defense isn't getting any better, but someone needs to be the defensive coordinator. Who on staff knows the 3-4? Pasqualoni?

Anyone who has been on the staff more than a year can probably handle it.

It's not like the defense is winning any games. They're the weak link.

Find someone who can at least motivate and a lot of the problems will be solved.

He knows how to call plays, been doing that a long time. Knows how to build game plans.

The playbook is already in place, its not like someone has to start over from scratch.

Wade's doing an awful job as DC right now, we'd lose next to nothing if he's gone.

I'm starting to think Wade is doing the best with what he's got. I think the level of 'talent' on the defensive side is suspect.

The first stage was before 2009 when we purged the bad attitude cancers of the team. The next filtration needs to go a bit deeper to weed out the quitters and guys that are just on the team to collect a pay check.

I can't see how.

Jerry made it clear he's not changing people midseason.

So unless Wade suddenly quits I can't see him not making it to Wednesdsay.

It's not rocket science it's football. He is a lifelong football coach he knows how to run a 3-4. Besides he has coached it for the last 4 years.
