FS Michael Griffen....

Wouldn't cost an arm and a leg......

Replaces the missed tackle/pass interference just waiting to happen Jeff Heath as the nickle DB

Relagates Heath to strickly special teams where he belongs.

Moves Barry Church back to his natural position of SS.

Gives J.J.Wilcox a true mentor @ FS.....

I see nothing but positives in this low cost/high reward move.

Comments?;)

After seeing Griffin basically watch Pierre Garcon run right by him last week, I'd say we're better off with what we got.... I know, its only one play but
I couldn't believe an NFL player could whiff on such a basic play... and it cost Tennessee the game... along with poor QB play, of course.

lol. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 75 safety out of 82 qualifying players this season.

There was once a time where Griffin was a really good Safety. But, he's older now and getting burned a lot these days. Not what we need right now.

I would prefer that wilcox and church get the reps....church because he is the best safety we have and Wilcox is still learning the position, so the more reps in actual game situations, the better....I like the more rugged style of church and Wilcox as well (as a tandem)....

Dude gets burnt more than waffles at IHOP............................................pass

The idea of upgrading at the position (Wilcox) makes sense, I was just noting how many missed tackles he has compared to other guys on the team, and his pass coverage needs to improve as well. I also think the idea of Wilcox continuing to grow into the position with more reps makes sense also. The right trade situation, adding a vet safety, would be compelling, but I don't currently see it.

Correct. It was not just getting outrun, it was his terrible angle.

and not only are you out a pick to get him, he makes over 6 mil a year. silly idea.
young players get better by playing, it is way to soon to give up on wilcox to me

Correct. It was not just getting outrun, it was his terrible angle.

And he has a history of that as well. Wasn't he benched a couple of years back for the same thing after getting a big contract?

Do people remember that great Miles Austin catch against the Titans some years back. That was his handiwork as well.

I'd pass on Griffen. Even if he were a better player, how long before he gets acclimated to the defense?

that is a factor is anyone you bring in. how long till they can actually contribute? how will it effect the chemistry of the team? but most important is the cost. we won't be able to sign all our own players this off season and we would be carrrying a 6 mil salary for an older player who i don't see is any better and certainly has no upside

I refuse to think that Floatyworm could have an idea that isn't a good one.

so there seems to be no upside to this move what so ever.

Pass. What does Griffen have to do in anyway with what is being developed on this team?

All the arguments have been given already. Just doesn't make sense.
