Despite an apparently weak offensive line, our defense should prevail. Joey Galloway as the #2 WR? Rookie LT? Portis and Johnson? McNabb? Could be a low scoring game with Cowboys possibly pitching a shutout. Take the Cowboys and the under.

Position First Team Second Team Third Team
WR Joey Galloway Anthony Armstrong Devin Thomas
LT Trent Williams
LG Derrick Dockery
C Casey Rabach Kory Lichtensteiger
RG Artis Hicks Will Montgomery
RT Jammal Brown Stephon Heyer
TE Chris Cooley Fred Davis Logan Paulsen
WR Santana Moss
QB Donovan McNabb Rex Grossman John Beck
FB Mike Sellers Darrel Young
RB Clinton Portis Larry Johnson

I saw in the washington post today an article that showed that shanahan is 5-3 all time against wade and that he has never failed to score at least 20 points in any of the games.

so It appears shanahan has wades number, combine that with the unkown defense and the environment and this is one of the tougher games of the year.

Mentioning a shutout seems beyond crazy.

5-3 isn't exactly having someone's number. That's being slightly better.

when you have score 20 points in every game against someones defense that is pretty darn good.

I think our defense will be that dominating in this game. A shutout would be awesome and I think possible. But 10 pt.s or less is more reasonable. I just don't see the Deadskins being effective on offense. Special teams and defense is another story and all you have to do is when 2 our of the 3 areas. So the game is not a lock. Just take the under.

I think this will be a close one. The Washington D every year seems to give us problems.

Of course our D is great, so I see this one as being an old-fashioned slug fest.

First game of the season could go either way in a rivalry like this. Openers scare me cause everyone is usually rusty as ****.

I've seen plenty of "depth" charts. This does not qualify. Its a shallow chart.:D

I could see McNabb targeting Cooley against our LBs.

Cooley is the best player on their offense. Hands down. Not very smart, but damn good player.

Agreed. McNabb loves his TEs. From Celek to Cooley.

I think that is the weakness. I dont think brooking has a chance against cooley and if they keep us off balance by running well on first downs cooley will eat brooking alive.

Once they get that rolling everything can open up.

but having said that, on paper you would think we could take their starting wide outs out of the game man to man and let sensebaugh help out there with cooley. Which could lead to mcnabb trying to throw deep with a single safety.

If that were to happen I think that is advantage us, Unless they max protect and then we make mistakes in the back end I think that is a scenario we want.

It might be like the giants game in ny in 07. We basically let them throw to shockey, or forced them to go to shockey repeatedly and he wasnt enough to beat us.

Who is McNabb going to throw deep to?

moss, galloway, thomas.....If its one on one he is going to take that matchup. The guy never turns down throwing deep.

I completely agree with you that road division games can never be considered easy. And this game may very well end up as a one score margin 16-10 type contest.

But have you really looked at that offense? They can't score 20 points on us without plenty of help from their defense. I'm talking 3 or more turnovers and a lot of short fields.

I think we totally dominate them on defense. 70 yards or less running no more than 180 passing. I see 3 or more sacks and 2 or more forced TOs

it will be an emotional night for them. there is alot riding on this game for that organization and that city. A win validates everything they have done in the offseason.

Emotion can make guys play better, faster and more focused.

and I disagree, they are more than capable of scoring 20 and on top of that they always force turnovers on us.

Any team is capable of scoring 20 on any team. This is the NFL. Statistically speaking, and one who works with odds, the chances of the them scoring 20 is not very high and a shutout has similar odds.

I hear what you're saying, but their problem is exactly what many think will be a benefit..........and that's getting us opening day.

I've said this a hundred times, but I love opening on the road against a dog. Think about it. Are we really going to overlook them? It our opener to and we've spent as much extra time preparing for them and thinking about them as they have spent on us.

Much better shot for them catching us week 2 after a big win and perhaps looking forward to a top team in week 3.

The crowd will be jacked, but no more so than any early season game against the Cowboys before the reality of what their team is has set in.

If we lose Sunday, it won't be because of we opened on the road against the skins. It will be because we're not as good as we all thought we were.

Then I like our chances if it comes to that. There is not a DeSean Jackson among the group.
