In yet another example of the "anti-Cowboy/pro-Forty Whiner" saga of the 80's & 90's, this story as to whether Eddie DeBartolo belongs in the HOF surfaced today...........
This guy, a convicted felon and mafioso who lost his team because of seedy and underground dealings in Louisiana, is being spoken of highly by his backers for consideration into the Pro Football HOF.
I remember when all this was going down, and wondering how Jerry Jones (or any other owner for that matter, but ESPECIALLY Jerry...) would've been treated. I remember distinctly, the overwhelming sentiment for this criminal being "Oh, we're all praying for Mr. DeBartolo and his family in this trying and challenging time."
Even today, in the article I read today, that sentiment remains amongst all his cronies...........that being "Whiner Nation".
I remember how the pundits and media just fawned and salivated over EVERYTHING Niner back then, and poo-poo'd everything Cowboy during their intense rivalry days. This DeBartolo thing was/is just one example amongst many. The ONLY OWNER EVER to be stripped of his team due to a felony/criminal conviction, and all we ever heard was/is how wonderfull and righteous he is!!
This thug doesn't belong in the HOF.....................

Considering the way his association with the NFL ended I can't ever see him in the HOF.
