Never been with a bank long enough for this to be an issue but, I have a card expiring in March. Will the new card have the same number? wondering because I have a few bills on auto pay, so obviously I would need to switch everything if its a new number....I asked a teller at my bank the other day and just got a "I think so".....Google didnt help much either surprisingly.....

Sometimes you get the same number... sometimes not (must depend on the bank).

BUT even if you are given the same number (16 digits) you'll have a new expiration date and a new 3-digit code on the back, which is going to necessitate changing everything over.

It seems there is some "float-time" where the old info will still be applicable even after your new card arrives and you've activated it, but obviously you want to get all your auto-pays updated as soon as possible.

You should receive your new card in plenty of time (before the old card expires) so that it isn't an issue.
