The media has propagated this myth that Romo got his timing down with the receivers while he was running the scout team, and playing on the 2nd and 3rd string...

Sam Hurd and Miles Austin weren't signed until 2006. The extent in which Romo could have been passing to mostly them... an offseason and 6 games during the season before he was made a starter.

People and mostly the media want to make it sound like Romo came into the league with these guys... and that couldn't be further from the truth.

In terms of chemistry obviously Romo would be most comfortable with

1. Jason Witten
2. Patrick Crayton
3. Sam Hurd
4. Miles Austin

other than that we've had a receiver carousel going on here. True Sam and Miles have been here for 3 years, but they never really got much playing time. 4th and 5th receivers simply don't play much.

Even Patrick Crayton has been a 3rd receiver for most of his time in Dallas.

If Roy Williams doesn't pan out, I would like to see some involvement with Sam Hurd and/or Kevin Ogletree, simply because I believe they can bring either more dynamic approach to the position, or more consistency.

If anything, he and Crayton probably had the most time practicing together.

Has the media propagated this myth?

I heard someone mention it but never thought anyone was claiming any sort of proven fact.

Well, he has still had more time to play with all of them than he has Roy. I read somewhere earlier that he seems to have the same lack of chemistry with MartyB that he does with Roy. It sort of makes sense.

I'm not making excuses, but I can see where the logic comes from. He does have the most chemistry with Witten and Crayton, and the three of them got into the league the same year.
