Decamillis talking special teams on the Ticket

Mostly about Bueller... As I said in that thread, they don't expect him to beat out Folk. He'll be a kickoff guy and is a good enough athlete to cover, too. They mainly want to back up opposing Os.

The LBs we got should be good at covering on STs, because they all move well. Especially Jason Williams. Great speed, and should take over Burnett's spot.

Most interesting to me, he thinks Smith will compete right away at returner. Norm asked about punt returner, and Joe said Smith can do that, but they think Newman will do it more. Wade told him he'd been hurt a lot so they were worried about using him there, but with the young corner depth that's not as big a concern and Wade will use him more there.

Which is music to my ears.

All in all, he sounded like he thought we had good personnel at returner already. We mainly have to improve our coverage (obviously).

Interesting about Newman. I figured that door was just about closed. And I think you've got the best KR in the game already with Felix, if you choose to use him.

I think that hiring of DeCamilis is going to be a big one though.

I don't know, maybe you treat him different than other kickoff specialists with his athletic ability. You tell him to keep on running and go for the ball carrier because you aren't that concerned about him getting hurt like you would your regular FG/PAT guy.
