The collapse-philes are waiting for Sunday. If we lose, they can crow that we finished the year 2-3.

And even if we win, they can still claim we didn't have a winning December.

But yeah, the recent trend (maybe not so recent without checking) is that peaking too soon is deadly. The season is simply too long to stay at a high level the entire time.

After watching Minnesota I think they might be one and done in the playoffs. And if the Saints play sloppy football next week, I don't think they make the Super Bowl. It's good to see other teams have the collapse for once.

And everyone said the Cowboys were collapsing with those Ginats and Chargers losses to open December, yet here we are now with everyone gushing over us.

I'm not buying into our new found success as much as eveeyone else, much like I'm not about to write off Minny and NO just yet. One week can change things in the NFL.

For instance, if we beat Philly we'll win the East and potentially have a first-week playoff bye, but if we lose, we're juswt a wildcard that will have to travel. That's a huge difference.

As much as I think Parcells is overrated, I do agree with him when he says that you're never as good as they say you are and never as bad as they say you are.

That's why Chicago just beat Minny. That's why Philly can easily beat us this Sunday. That's why a team has to have a "take it a week at a time" mentality and not look ahead or get coaught up in peripheral matters. What's nice is that Wade Phillips is cultivating that type of mentality in Dallas.

I agree. I would not write off New Orleans or Minn things change quickly. Hell many around here threw in the towel on Dallas not just the media. I have said throughout the season it is a 16 game league and teams who were hot early on would fall and those who were struggling very well could get it going. I knew that because I have been watching the NFL for over 40 years now and it happens every year, yet the overreaction always pop up from fans and media alike.

In this decade, we have the worst December decade record in history! Worse than the 70's Aints! Think about that for a minute. Let that sink in. That is an unbelievable stat!

I know there are a lot of Cowboy haters in the media, but we deserve the criticism for our past December play and until we prove everyone wrong and win in December and in the playoffs they will continue to write and talk about our late season collapses and justifiably so.

I totally disagree. If you are a sports writer today, you cover and report on the team and game of today, this year. Not 2 years ago, 5 years ago. 25 years ago.

That stuff only matters for elegant writing. It has NO impact or relationship with perfromance today.

The response cliche is totally true, the 50-60 guys at valley ranch today don't give a damn about any other year or day than this one.

Agreed. I'm not totally ready to write off the other "collapsing" teams like some. Where was the Cardinals' momentum going into the playoffs last year? Did the Giants have all that much momentum the year before? The Colts the year before that?

I'm not saying that I'd rather not have the momentum because honestly, it is nice to finally have some momentum going in this time of the season. But at the same time, I do think it tends to get overrated somewhat. Vikings are having some problems crop up at the wrong time, but I think the Saints are still as dangerous as any team in the NFC. It's just that some of that luck that was going their way at the beginning of the season didn't happen the last couple of weeks. Doesn't mean that they aren't scary as heck though.

As they say when the playoff start it is a brand new season what happened in reg season has little to do with the outcomes. Unlike other pro sports there is no series it is 1 game and you are done or you move to the next round.

Yes it is. You have to just play good enough to stay in the playoff hunt all season long and then turn it on in December.

Minnesota is starting to remind me of the 2007 Cowboys, and New Orleans is approaching that area to me. But then again I guess we played the Super Bowl champs closer than anyone else in the playoffs, so maybe the Cowboys didn't fall apart.

Many are talking about Minny and N.O.

Or are you talking about why aren't many on here talking about them? I'd say that is because this is a Cowboys board and not a Vikings or Saints board. But many in the media are talking about those two, especially Minny.

Minnesota definetly looks like the 07 Cowboys and throw in New Orleans also. People keep doubting us, and every week we keep bringing it to the naysayers. I LOVE IT!!
