As a prospect, I see him as a solid Day 2 prospect with a high ceiling. He reminds me a lot of Marvin Harrison; strong, wiry and fast.

However, he may drop dramatically in the draft due to a less than stellar track record of the field:

- Arrested twice for domestic violence, though both charges eventually dropped.
- Gained a reputation as a lazy and unmotivated student while attending both JC and Oklahoma.
- Has two kids.

Question for my fellow draftniks...is Dede the type of player you'd want to take a chance on? If so, when?

He is a scumbag Sooner, don't want him. BTW, the guy is one of the most talented and electrifying WRs I have seen in the college game.....but he continues to fail to save the drama for his mama....

Give me less talent with no headaches, than major talent but gives me a migraine.

No knuckleheads early in the draft.

If a talented knucklehead falls in the draft then take him. DE/OLB Lynch (5th) a few years ago to SF for example.

You don't take risks in the first 3 or so rounds. Those are supposed to be starters. Depending on mid to late 4ths the pickings are slim and you're going more for upside anyways. At that point it really doesn't matter much if the risk is they bust due to talent or bust due to character problems. At that point I will always prefer the highly skilled character concern over the questionable skill rkg every time.

Tyreek Hill beat up his prego girlfriend and is a superstar now on the chiefs. Dede is a saint compared tyreek hill! This team needs a new WR, Dede in the 2nd is a steal!

BTW, I should say having kids isn't necessarily a red flag, but I think at a young age it does show a bit of impulsiveness.

You can't judge a character risk player when he is still a rookie. The character risks guys often do OK for a year or two before they get comfortable and revert to their old ways.

Hill was a 5th round pick. I'm fine taking a risk in the 5th round. Those guys have no "clout" int he locker room; whereas, 1st/2nd round picks do have a certain respect in the locker room and have a certain power in that they know the team does do everything possible to avoid cutting them.

I don't think Dez would have ever had all of his issues if he had been a 5th round pick. The late round guys are focused on trying to make the team and less comfortable screwing around.

5th round and below if we were dead set on taking a chance on him.
But my personal opinion would be to stay away from character risks.

I don't know why. Mixon's situation is different to me. It's not like he just battered and abused the woman. She hit him first not once but twice. That's mitigating circumstances to me.

The team should definitely do their own investigation of his personality/character. Sometimes good guys make mistakes while some guys are just bad guys. The media tends to exaggerate some stories.

Honey Badger was a character risk player that I think has stayed out of trouble in the NFL.
