True story:

About 4 years ago my 100 pounds Coon/Rot mix chased a dear just about that size about a half mile into the woods before I stopped chasing him only to return home about 2 hours later dragging a deer carcus with him.

Not all dogs will lay down and take that *** whooping. lol

Yes a 100lb dog can kill a deer if it gets it running and drags it down from behind.

But a dog is not gonna beat it in a straight up fight with a deer thats on the attack.

I have actually owned a few

But no matter how you would like to romanticize how powerful they are against each other and humans, a 40-60 lb dog is gonna get trampled by a 140 - 200 lb hooved deer ....... he cannot get to its throat and a deer spends its whole life avoiding predators on its legs.

Its not even close ...... I am sorry you cannot understand that.

Dogs can't leap?

no joke I was up in a deer stand once and had the floor break through and I landed directly on a 8 point buck and my rifle was still up in the stand...Scared the shiite out of me and the buck... when we both stood up he turn and grunted in my face I was very worried as he was bigger than I was...I was trying to get back up the stand and he was trying to get the heck out of there but I don't think I wanted to get into a fight with him though I did have my knife in my hand fat lot of good it would have done me

LOL. So a pitbull can't jump huh?

BTW not all pitbulls are 40-60lbs. There are some that are over 100. Even a rott for that matter. They are well over 100lbs that would trample a deer.

You stick to you're deer. I'll stick with my pitbull. ;)

When I was growing up there was this 40lb, tiny *** dog who used to be able to leap our 5 foot tall fence. So yeah, a big dog will be able to get high enough to take down a deer.

Dogs usually make their attacks when something has their back to them. That's because they're smart and realize that a head-on attack is usually not in their best interest. That dog had no chance and the vast majority of dogs, save for some of the people on this forum's super dogs, wouldn't either.

You have no idea how a canine attacks or hunts do you.
