That was quite the offensive beat-down GB handed NO.

Quite the array of weapons Green Bay has. I'm not sure how you slow down that offense... Except for disrupting the timing of the offense, you can't cover all of their options on every play.

Certainly New Orleans tried disrupting Rodgers and then tried using just a 3-man rush and failed miserably. 27 for 35? That's scorching hot.

Certainly aren't beating them in a shootout. Gotta try to shorten the game with the running game on offense, play the safeties deep to prevent the big play and hope it comes down to the last possession or one big play. Certainly can't lose the turnover margin and give up a special teams TD like New Orleans did.

NO showed quite an offensive arsenal as well. Both teams are hard to beat in a shootout. Teams will have to get some stops and turnovers to hang.

You have to get physical with them. (Green Bay) The Saints defense is trash. They no longer have their defensive leader either. (Sharper)

This is exactly why they got dropped by Seattle last year. Sharper IMO made that defense. He with injured last year and the defense fell off. This year they don't have him at all and look what happen.

The Saints are like an 80s basketball team. All offense and no defense.

Could be partially that NO has a terrible Defense. They couldn't stop anything last night.

Until further notice that's what we are as well. Ryan still has to prove that has changed in Dallas.

I saw the same thing. The GB defense looks a bit suspect w/ the run and the pass as well.

All I will say is that Green Bay allowed the Saints to score 34 points on them AT Green Bay and that's not including the 4th-and-1 the Saints failed to convert inside the 10 yard line of GB and the 1-yard line failure at the end of the game.

Meaning that Green Bay had to score 35+ points to win the game and that was at their own stadium and with the Saints helping them out on two failed short-yardage plays. At the very least that was 6 points left on the field by the Saints and could have been 14 points.

While everyone is ready to crown Green Bay the 2012 Super Bowl champion, let's see how well they do when they play a real defense and when their own defense plays an average offense.

Gonna have to get turnovers and run the ball really well, shortening the game, and limiting their offensive possessions to beat them. Either of those teams in fact.

playing them anywhere but Lambeau would help--Lambeau is a noisy place with a bad surface

They don't play any really stingy defenses this year. Although, come playoff time, they will surely find one. The toughest defenses they will face this year are in their own division.

They looked great, but will not look that good every week. They lost 5-6 last year.

I havent seen an overreaction over one games since....

Vick beat down the Skins last year.

Its one game.

I totally agree.

New Orleans had more yardage and Brees put up 100 more yards than Rodgers. If New Orleans had had a little bit better defense, they would have beaten the so-called unbeatable Packers in their own house.

Both teams are really good, but no one can claim the Packers dominated in any facet of that game.

yea, that's it. Cause them playing AT Philly, At Atlanta, at Chicago, and At Dallas sure slowed them down. And the grass field at Lambeau is the best in the game.

Actually, I was more impressed by NO. GB had their initial flurry, but weren't as effective the rest of the way. Both teams scored 6 times, but New Orleans also had 2 other drives end on downs inside GB's 10 yard line. If not for the fumble early, I think NO wins that one (which they almost did anyway).

Packers lost 5 to 6 games last year by a total of about 15 points. Packers will be better this year. They always start the season slow. That is Mike McCarthys MO. He builds the team for November/December football. The team had a hard time stopping Brees last night but there is no shame in getting scorched by a QB named Drew Brees and last time I checked the only QB better than him in the NFC plays for the team that won last night. Packers defense will be fine. An awesome first game. Next up is Carolina, then the Bears.

I find it humourous that some want to base Green Bay's success (or lack there of) this season based on what they did or didn't do last year.

But the same people will chest-thump about how good the Cowboys will be this season and totally neglect their 6-10 record last season.

Bottom line is that time and time again, what a team did in a prior season is often a poor indicator of what it will do this season.

Bottom line part 2, is that the Green Bay offense looked terrific over the first half and I think they slid some in the second half knowing they could score any time they wanted to. In addition their secondary played really soft in the second half and gave up a lot of yards.

I think GB is a far better team than NO at this point in time.

What if the Saints had beaten them.....then what tune would you be singing?

You sound as if you're suggesting the Packers "stood down" as not to run up the score or something because they could score anytime they wanted to. Packers must have known they had the game in the bag as evidenced by the game being decided on the final play.

That's a big IF.

I don't think GB showed any of the urgency on offense in the second half that they did in the first half.
