The way they are being used, which I applaud by the way, alternating every two series, for the most part. So if the first two series went to Barber instead of Jones, it really wouldn't make a difference.
Yes, Barber is the better back in terms of physicality and balance. But it's not like he's miles ahead of Jones in terms of being that much better. It's a forum and people come to express their opinions, but I just don't understand the big noise over whose starting and whose not. Their carries are being pretty much evenly divided it appears, with maybe more for Barber towards the end.
But the bottom line is EVERY running back needs blocking and if either one of these guys continues to get hit in the backfield after getting the handoff, I think we'll see exactly what we saw this game - not much.
Kudos to the poster who pointed out Jones' effort, particularly when he got hit about 3 yards deep in the end zone twice but didn't give up the safety. And as far as pass catching superiority, I could have sworn that was Barber whose hands Romo's pass went through almost leading to another INT.
There is no star in our backfield. There are two backs who complement each other and work well together in our scheme.
With respect to the running game, my attention and focus is on the OL, because that's where it starts. They perform well and the rest will take care of itself.
