I mean I'm already not the most popular for pointing out poster errors. Maybe I shouldn't add to it by calling out all the wrong opinions so early.

Cowboys signed Jalen Thompson in free agency and hired a 1st time defensive coordinator.

Then 90% of the fanbase declared the defense was vastly improved.

More than Jalen Thompson. Add Rashan Gary, Malachi Lawrence, Jaishawn Barham, P.J. Locke, Cobie Durant, Otito Ogbonnia, Jonathan Bullard, LT Overton, Dee Winters, and others as well.

Vastly improved? Not yet. But vastly different? For sure.

Just about every defense in the league is giving up yards in boatloads.

Downs and Barham were both terrific today. That's good.

Eight new defensive starters that have never played together before, along with a bunch of new backups, too. Give them some some time.

Teams were going up and down the field all day in these games. It's not about that. It's about touchdowns, not yards.

Downs is awesome. Barham had a good game and was puking on the field, which is pretty cool.

Malachi Lawrence had a couple good rushes.



The defense is still lacking talent. But if the young guys can improve through the season, the defense will improve at the same time.

We especially need Barham, Lawrence, and Revel to work out.

I meant to mention Lawrence in my post. He looks crazy violent and athletic. I think Eze looks much better, too.

I think the pass rush will improve as we go a lot.

I still don't know why Von Miller is here. He's washed.

Exactly. Getting cut doesn’t mean you don’t have value and I’ve been big on the I don’t think Gary is the same guy he once was train. But I just hate that lazy “he was about to get cut” opinion. As if that means he can’t play.

Actually i thought revel was pretty good, perfect by no means but not a liability either.

Definitely seemed to be gaining confidence. I can deal with a player making mistakes if he shows he is willing to get better and fight. I definitely see that with revel

Yeah, I mean I guess if it's so low that LB improvement over the no instincts duo of Murray and Liuafau is the running standard then you are absolutely 100 percent correct.

I just have a hard time accepting that level of incompetence as a starting point, but that's just me.
But again to "that degree", you are right.

When they talked about potential scheme change I wondered initially would it maximize Q because now it was explained I didn’t see it.

The ONLY dudes I’ve ever seen maximize and dominate DE in a 3-4 was Bruce Smith and JJ Watt. I don’t know enough about him in NY and that scheme, what he’s best at…but I agree…he’s the best player we have on D and can be dominant….but we need a DC that can use him the right way, not waste his potential.

We simply couldn't contain the running QBs today. The pass rush was better. I also think our CBs were ok. The Washington Wrs are better than NYG. I'm not sure about our run fits. Parker has to figure this out quickly.

I guess that's always the risk, but rather give up a big play now and again then teams moving the chains on long drives and wearing out the defense like in the Giants game.

First off glad we got the W. Now with that being said, our defense has to get better at communication. There is no excuse for receivers to running down the field wide open. Secondly, our DE have to do a better job of not leaving running lanes vs mobile QB's. Too many times they rushed upfield and it created lanes for J5. Tackling at the POC, we have to do a better job of bringing down the ball carrier and preventing that extra 3-4 yard gain. I feel Barham did ok, Caleb had 1 mental lapse on the 1st td, but played a very solid game. Revel, is going to have to tighten up at cb too. Overall, hopefully the defense improves with more games with live action, due to most guys not playing preseason.

We don’t have linebackers to stop the run.

Our best defense is going to be our offense like Brady said.

We gotta make teams 1 dimensional.

This defense absolutely stinks and I think it’s our middle linebackers are the biggest problem.

Right and Q doesn’t have the same skillset as JJ and Bruce so yeah the concerns are there but then they paid him which made me think they had a role carved out for him.
