LAS VEGAS (AP) — Defense attorneys for a 19-year-old man accused of killing a Las Vegas mother of four after a car chase in their neighborhood said Monday that the case has been mischaracterized as road rage.

But lawyers and brothers Conrad and Augustus Claus didn't provide a new account of the slaying before appearing in court with their client, Erich Milton Nowsch Jr. They said they want to review police reports and video evidence before talking about Nowsch's defense in the late Feb. 12 shooting that fatally wounded Tammy Meyers, 44, outside her home.

Nowsch didn't say a word as he stood in shackles in the courtroom and looked at media cameras pointed at him. He wasn't asked to enter a plea during his brief initial court appearance.

Has anyone been following this story? Lots of "truths" being floated out there. One being that the mom who was killed wasn't a total innocent in this tragedy. Very unfortunate thing to happen, tho.

That's the story I read WG, that the mom was a somewhat "guilty" culprit. Evidently she honked at a speeder, who then followed her and cussed her out. She then went home to wake up her 20 something son to grab his gun to go patrolling for the group that cussed her out; son and mom team. Evidently they found the car, but veered off into their own neighborhood before any altercation ensued??? The car in question followed them into the neighborhood court were shots were exchanged between the son and the car in question. The mother turned up dead after this shootout. It is a crazy situation that they seem to be peeling away at. But that mother had a hand in her own death one way or another...not justifying her homicide but also not an innocent bystander, or "road rage" by any means.

Really strange case. Supposedly the family didn't even mention to police who shot at her, even though the brother and daughter both knew, for a week. They never mentioned him, and let the police connect it on their own. The kid is a total POS who deserves a lot of jail time at the very least, but the case is going to unravel for the prosecution, because it looks like mom was somewhat at fault in the altercation(s).

I've been following this from the beginning. Yes what happened is unfortunate but more importantly it was completely preventable. At some point stupidity took over and now someone has died and kids lost their mom. Of course the defense atty's are going to say it wasn't road rage but I think they are right. As more info comes out the story sure takes on a new perspective. I'm sure we haven't heard the last chapter either. Hopefully Dateline or 20/20 has one of their hour long shows on this some night.

What was all that talk about? She knew him, always helped him?
I thought there was a little fooling around going on that went bad.
