Defense better, record worse

What worries me is that we got to 8-8 with a horrid defense.

If defense gets better, still doesn't even guarantee 8-8.
We could have better defense and roll out the year worse than 8-8.

This is a mess.

It depends on your definition of "mess." I'll grant you, the defense doesn't look much better than it did last year...one could make an argument it's looks worse, if you ignore the fact that at least a few of the players should see improvement by merit of having more experience in the 43. Having said that, I still do not believe the Cowboys were able to do enough to make an impact this year. However, as the cap starts to clear up and the young rookies gain experience, this team should see improvement over time. If you are just here to see them contend immediately, you might be in for a dissappointment. But if you enjoy watching players grow in a system, then you will be entertained.
