Too many of the defensive players are focusing too much on sacks instead of playing total defense.

Hanging With a Boys made a great point about how D-Law & Micah were rushing wildly with no thoughts about outside containment knowing you are facing an elite mobile QB. The ***discussion starts at 26:00 time marker.***

Quinn needs to go back to little more traditional 4-3 defense with more rules and structure for players to follow.

And last of all Jerry needs to sign Suh or trade for a stud DT/ NT like Jeffrey Simmons from the Titans.

Nah, DLaw had Fields dead on his sights and just didn't play it well and got juked. He does need to control his speed and force Fields upfield rather than outside where no other defenders, but it was the right scheme. The only problem i had was having no spy on Fields from the first play of the game. Pass rushing is fine with me. Forces turnovers and bad passes, not just sacks.

Because running the ball well and stopping the run have little correlation to winning. The Bears gashed the Cowboys for 240 yards rushing and lost by 20 points.

Bears have a QB that can’t throw. You saw how Brady used the run game to beat this team.

If that was non mobile QB then it would be true. He didn’t keep outside leverage and should have slowed down and let Fields make the initial move.

To the OP's point, watching the game replay exposed a lot of aggressive attacking by the Cowboys defense and I have to believe they did not prepare that way during the week. Over pursuing and trying to make splash plays put the defense in compromised position during much of the game. They can and better clean that up.

The Bucs scored 19 points. That’s below league average during a season in which scoring is way down. Defense is not the reason the Cowboys lost that game. Turnovers and passer rating differential were in the Buc’s favor. Those are the predictive stats, not rushing.

The RB had 127 yards and 6 yards per carry. There is nothing for the defense to brag about.

The type of player they've drafted plays into this I think. Does the team draft power lineman who can control and contain, or does the team draft athletic speed rushers who can get sacks? It's a philosophy of personnel as well as a philosophy of defense.

The loss to the Buds was a total team effort.

To blame that loss on one side or the other is shortsighted

The 19 points they held the Bucs too with how much the offense kept them on the field for was plenty to brag about and plant enough to win if Dak could have played like an NFL QB

so we have the best defense we have had in ... 20 plus years. We allow the 3rd or 4th fewest points in the league and you are going to come in here and tell Quinn what he needs to do???? Are you kidding me? We have so many people on here telling us that Quinn should be head coach and how great he is,... he is an amazing D coach,.... but you presume to tell him what he shoud be doing?? Go to a 4-3 and get an old tackle nobody wants??????? Sounds like a plan.... smh
