Defense in 2013?

those of you trying to brush off questions about the cap need to remember that the cap WILL NOT BE GOING UP FOR YEARS.

Unlike before the new CBA when it steadily climbed year by year.

When that was happening you could play games and shove money to the future when the cap was higher.

Well that will NOT be happening until at LEAST 2015. Maybe later before it goes up by any real amount.

The only reason it was where it was this year was the money Mara and company stole from us and the Skins.

That is the primary reason why we will not resign spencer; or even franchise him again. Though that is somewhat more likely.

We will have to look at Romo's extension and once again there is just so much smoke and mirrors you can do.

Spencer will return. Doug Free and Jay Ratliff may be cap casualties, especially if Dallas goes Jon Jenkins in round 1 in the draft.

Do you mean John Jenkins? I was doing some reading on mock drafts and this guy looks like the real thing if available in the second round:

"Haloti Ngata-type presence.

The junior-college product Jenkins (6-3, 351) showed off massive size with some surprising athleticism in his debut for the Bulldogs in 2011. The junior had 28 tackles, six tackles for a loss and three sacks. Jenkins has 50 tackles, one blocked kick, one pass batted, two tackles for a loss and one sack this season. The sack came against Alabama guard Chance Warmack.

Jenkins is a massive load at the line of scrimmage. The senior is a natural fit as a zero-technique nose tackle for an NFL 3-4 defense. It helps that he already plays that position for Georgia. "

I suppose the fact that he was asked by the team to move to DE and he refused has tainted his image in my eyes.

Regardless Ive always thought he was undersized for that position and he is on the wrong side of 30 to top it off.
Did they really ask him?

I agree with the need for a NT. I was just wondering if there was some reason you had focused in on Jenkins in a relatively deep draft for nose tackles.

I agree that I don't think the team addresses RT. I don't think they address S either. I suspect they'll roll with Sensabaugh, Church and Johnson.

Spencer is probably re-signed, so DL and OL are probably likely as you said.

I agree with all your points.

I haven't seen any evidence that the Cowboys even desire some behemoth like that for the NT position AND the Cowboys do not play a lot of zero-technique at the nose.

I don't see the Cowboys being interested in Jenkins or any pure NT for that matter.
