I am as down on Romo as everyone else because of his performance last night. However, Romo is not always gonna stink up the joint like last night. He does have too many clunker games, but the real problem is the defense.

1. They cant cover anyone.
There is no excuse for Manningham and Smith..not stars in anybodies book..torching the secondary like the did last night. They did not cover the Bucs recievers any better. That last drive was way to easy.

2. No pressure.
Has a little to do with the coverage issues I am sure. Even when the Boys blitzed thay didnt get close to sacking Manning. Spencer is no help at all. Hell Greg Ellis had 2 sacks yesterday. Double Ware and the is no pressure at all. I think they single blocked him a well last night and ....nothing.

Unless something changes on defense , we are all in for a long season..

I am sorry to say this...............but did you just found out?

Agreed. 2 games, no Sacks & no turnovers. Like you said, Romo wont ALWAYS play this poorly but our Defense has yet to show they can play any better.

defense has been for the LONGEST. If Romo could just throw it 20 times a game (like Troy did) and hand it off the rest of the time....we would be sub .500. Romo has won 70% of the games he has started in spite of a team with defensive problems, penalty problems, and special teams problems. Romo has outscored ALL OF THIS. We are RELEVANT again as an organization BECAUSE of him. He will not win every game...but going into games we know there is a 70% chance us of winning because we will score. 21 points is RARLEY good enough for this team to win.

Its hard to put a lot of blame on this defense when they were put in a position to fail with 4 turnovers.

You have 4 turnovers than its going to hurt your defense badly.

The biggest problem on defense last night was Scandrick.

Wade had him in a position to succeed but Scandrick failed.

the amount of space between the receivers and our defense on most plays is truly disturbing.
when they do seem to be in good position, they fail to make a play on the ball.

the pass rush has also got to improve.

Yep! Season's over after 2 Games!
Geeze!

It aint over but the exact same concerns still linger and they wont go away.

Dallas inventing/finding ways to lose. It sucks.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. Combine Romo's bonehead plays last night coupled with giving the defense a short field, it's a recipe for disaster. You have to remember when Felix fumbled, we held the Giants to a FG. Early in the game we held the Giants to a couple FG's, but you can only give a team so many opportunities before they get in the endzone. Romo's turnovers and the defense tiring out lost us the game.

I hear you all going on and on about how hard it is to win with 4 turnovers...but that was LAST night...how many times has Romo had to be in a shootout and save everyones but (the coach, the d coordinator, the special teams, the penalty offenders, Jerry Jones etc...) He is 7-2 on SUnday night...these are the BIGGEST games of the year...we pontificate all night about the 2 losses, longer than we do about the 7 wins. If he plays like this a couple of weeks in a row...then lets talk about benching him...but he has won 70% of his games for a reason...and it d*mn sure has not been because of the defense.

This post nails it.

You aren't going to find a defense in the league who will succeed with 4 turnovers.

Not even the Steelers.

Specially if the Defense can't get a stop with your team having a 1 point lead late in the 4th.

Let's just cut all the BS already & blame the HUMIDITY on the field last night for the loss. :D

Also, these are the type of games that can cause divisiveness in the locker room. Players can easily start pointing the fingers. For example, a WR can call out the CB's for playing a poor game, while a LB may throw the QB under the bus. Hopefully there will be no finger pointing in the locker room; they can take accountability as a TEAM and rebound from this tough loss.

True, but the defense was lousy against the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Sorry, it is time to press the panic button on this defense.

There were guys wide open seemingly all night.

If this defense isn't getting pounded in the running game, they are giving up huge chunks of yards in the passing game.

I believe Dallas needs to go back to the 4-3 defense...

The Gaints scripted WR double moves against a CB and that is possible because of no pressure on their QB. He is sitting back waiting for the WR to make their moves and then zip the ball.

We will here end of the season from Jerry that he made a mistake for not sacking Wade ( and get rid of Campo too, even if he was once a great DB coach once, he becase a head coach in this building, so coming back as DB coach is not the same, people just don't respect what you say or teach)

Why?

There are teams in the NFL that are having alot of success with the 3-4 Defense.

We supposedly have one of the best 3-4 minds in the game and have quite a bit of talent "based on draft position".

Our failures have more to do with a crisis in leadership.

When the going gets tough, do you really think Wade Phillips is a source of inspiration?
