Defense is the strength of this Team

The wildcard will now be the kicker. Turpin will improve the return game and improve field position but when opposing defenses get stingy it'll be up to the kicking game and that worries me more than anything on offense or defense.
It’s been a concern ever since Bailey went off the rail a few years ago. I guess we just keep our fingers crossed until the team finds a reliable kicker. At least we’ve got a good punter.

This team is by far more heavily invested on the offensive side of the ball. But I agree that it will be the defense that takes this team where it is headed.
I’d be willing to bet most, if not all, NFL teams have much more money invested in the offense. QBs, WRs, Olinemen are among the highest paid positions. Even TEs are getting expensive. On defense, it’s mainly edge rushers and corners that are highly paid. The league is an offensive league these days, so offensive players are naturally going to be higher paid in general. It’s just the way it is.

Thanks for the perspective on the NFL outside of what's going on with the Cowboys. I don't often pay attention to what's going on out there so I appreciate the information you just provided.

Hey fans, has anyone realized how much this team has taken on a defensive approach? With a $40 million QB, and high paid running back, you'd think this is an offensive team.

I think we owe it all to Dan Quinn, he has shaped this team, and is the major influence on the shape of this roster. Just look at the safety position, a position that haunted us for years. Year after year we ignored it, now we're loaded with safeties!

The D line is loaded!! The depth chart shows we have several defensive tackles and pass rushers. Can anyone name when we've had so much depth in this area???

I'm expecting big things from our defense. But just because we have numbers, I'm expecting the offense to capitalize on any takeaways the defense gives us!

Does anyone feel that Jerry is ready to agree that this is a defensive team?? Please give your thoughts...

Loaded I talent or loaded as in personnel numbers?

Old boy, I think it is the latter.

The Cowboys have changed their approach. The defense and special teams will now make the splash plays. Looking forward to the game plans against the Bucs and Bengals. Parsons is gunning for league MVP!!!!!

I have pointed this out in other threads but Dallas is like 4th in spending on offense and 28th in spending on defense. Largest differential in the NFL. The fact that this is going to be a defense based team speaks to just how poorly Dallas has spent its money on offense.

Defense is becoming the strength in spite of the offense getting the Lions share of the money.

Imagine if they actually used free agency to help the defense?
Don’t worry. Starting next season Diggs will cash in. I bet he will be the highest paid cornerback in the league as they cut Zeke and Tyron.

Really? You do know when Dak has played the last three seasons we have the number 1 offense in the league. The offense has been fine. Now the defense is elite.

Parsons makes this defense fun to watch. Hope the offense can do its part but it looks like the defense abd ST are ready for theirs.

I agree and it's almost weird to say it. I'm just agrivated that we didn't see any big moves. Look at our rivals.

Defense has to start winning games on a regular bases first. But I agree its now right there.

No doubt. Solid all around, especially if guys like Sam Williams pan out.

I think Gallimore will drop jaws this year. He looks really tough out there.

As far as takeaways, we'll have enough pressure, and there are ballhawks in our defense. I think Mukuamu wins a job sometime this season. That's how good I think he is.

They will find a way to utilize Bland, too.

If Sam Williams end up being really good then it takes this defense up another notch for sure. If they scale back the penalties then they have a legit shot of being dare I say the best defense in the league.

SW has insane physical ability. It will take some time for him to learn all the nuances of playing in the NFL, but the sky is the limit on him.

I really can't remember a player his speed that has that much power.
- He pushed #9 overall pick OT Charles Cross straight back into the QB.
- The play where the RB ended up in the air out in the flat area was awesome by SW.
- He ran over a TE and FB without slowing down at all and without veering off the straight path to the RB.
- He had multiple plays where he started inside but ended up making a tackle out near the sideline.
- Most DEs that make an inside move, are out of the picture on any plays to the outside.

This is the basis for our argument. Playing the NFls 2nd easiest schedule and being in one the leagues 2 worst divisions skews the stats. This applies to defensive stats as well

that’s why when we play elite teams or playoff games, the offense goes AWOL and the defense get run roughshod over. If we were in the NFC West, our “impressive stats” would cease to exist

Don’t take my word for it……just look back at the crucial losses at key times.

Yes the hopes of a deep playoff run completely rely on a dominant defense. This offense is going to take big steps back and will probably be a ball control style offense as long as the defense holds up.

I'm looking forward to watching him play. If he develops, him and Parsons in the front 7 will be a force.

With so many questions about the offense .. the WRs..., the run game ..the lack of design with RBs in pass game ...the play calling of the OC
...a very suspect OL coach and block scheme and of course the current OL .

. it's a good reason why many point towards the Defense to be the lead factor of this team, instead of the offense.

- But it's not a fixture that we will have a top 3 type defense, imo ..without misleading stats that involves weak sisters of the NFC East division..
- Can we stop the run with the better run game teams ?
- Can we rush the passer besides Parsons ?
- Do we have key depth when the injuries start raining in ?

- i expect a high number of INTs -with both the ball hawks we are accumulating, as well as

- And let's not overlooked that FG kicker situation,.. it's Brett Maurer .. we've seen and experienced his " i won't lose any sleep " doings here before.
Sorry but i really believe it is gonna cost us at least a couple of key games here.

Hope they are a strength, However do not think offense will all of a sudden become a weakness. I expect offense to carry their own load and add that to a strong defense you have the makings of something special.

Add some more quality DTs in the rotation and this is a Championship defense.
