They did do a great job of holding the Saints to only field goals. But, many Cowboys fans still don't have much faith or confidence in this defense yet. Especially not when it comes to having to go against the better QBs on the schedule.

The defense is decent at bending but not breaking as they will let a offense drive down the field against them and then force a FG in the redzone. But, they need to be more consistent at stopping offenses before they get into the redzone or FG range. Or it may cost them if they keep allowing the better offenses and QB consistently get into the redzone.

They need to stiffen up before offenses reach the redzone, starting with Rodgers. Rodgers doesn't have Devante Adams, yet has been a pain in the neck to the Cowboys and still has enough talent to still hurt this defense, if they allow him to consistently get his offense into the redzone and scoring range.

If this defense performs more like they did against Brees and the Saints last season, against Rodgers and the better QBs on our schedule then this team is going to be in a lot of games with a chance to win it in the 4th quarter. They can't allow Rodgers to go off like he did against the Eagles or it will be very hard for the Cowboys to beat the Packers.

If this defense delivers as solid performance against Rodgers, then I believe that Cowboys fans will start to have more trust and confidence that they can potentially become a true playoff defense. Let's hope that they are up to the task on Sunday. We need them to show up if this team is going to end the streak of Rodgers owning this franchise.

If the offense cant deliver a respectable performance it will be essential. If the offense can right the ship than we can chalk it up to anomaly but if they crap the bed again a trend may be starting.

I can just see Quinn sacking Rodgers / Rodgers gets up whining with the dramatics / Penalty flags fly at Quinn from all directions...….and somewhere Goodell smiles resting back in his Leather Chair sipping Cognac with Mara....

The defense will eventually break, and against a QB like Rodgers they will.
Do you think the defense could have stopped Brees 4 times from getting any TD's?
And then there was at least 2 others times, maybe 3 they were taken out of FG range by sacks. Would have Brees been sacked those times as well?

They need to make stops before the opponent get in scoring range. Not wait until they get to the 20.

Still not happy with this defense. They need to stop talking and start playing.

They were pretty good against New Orleans except for that one 9 minute drive. You can't beat the defense up for allowing 4 FGs. The bigger issue is what will this offense do against a better defense thats had 10 days to rest up and prepare. I know this much........they sure as heck aren't going to be biting on play action. Lets hope the OL can start making those 5 yard gaping holes for Zeke to run through.

This defense has never delivered against Rodgers. It would be a nice change of pace if they did. Now, it's not all their fault since officials have always let GB offensively hold all day, but that might be changing.

Thats true but our weakness has always been linebackers in coverage against Rodgers and him buying time.

Leighton Vander Esch is a huge answer for a lot of the stuff Rodgers has gotten away with against us.

Age also looks like it's kicked in on Rodgers a little bit too.

Assuming Adams is out this week, this is the what the Packers will be trotting out this week vs Dallas:
  • WR: Valdez-Scandling (5th Round), Allison (UDFA), UFDA, UDFA, UDFA
  • TE: Jimmy Grahm, Marcedes Lewis, UDFA
Their TEs are old and not very good and there are college teams with better WR Corps that what the Packers will have on the field next week.

In other words, minus Adams the Packers have easily the worst set of pass recievers in the NFL. If the Cowboys can't contain Rodgers under these circumstances, then the Cowboys pass defense just isn't very good.

But our team always allow back up players look like all pros. No matter which side of the ball.
Back up OL, we get no pressure. Back WR's, we will allow 300 yards passing. Backup RB and Ol, we allow a 200 yard rusher.
Back up QB, can't sack him until we let him march downfield on us. And only get an INT on a tipped ball.

The best friend of the defense is a good offense.

If the offense performs like it did against NO, that puts extra pressure on the defense and makes them work extra hard for the Cowboys to stay in the game.
TOP became a factor after that.
That, and offensive mistakes.

GB will definitely be a stiff test for our defense. While Bridgewater moved the ball, he couldn’t find the end zone. Rodgers is usually a safe bet to do both.

Since we could easily see a 30pt+ shootout this week, the offense will need to bring its A-game as well.

Gonna learn a lot about this Cowboys team on Sunday. I believe we’ll pull it together and get the win.

Both sides of the ball need to step up if the Cowboys are finally going to be able to defeat Rodgers. The Offense has to do much better at producing and getting TDs. But, the defense also has to force some punts or 3 and outs and not put the game in a position where Rodgers and the Packers offense has chances at scoring on every drive that they have the ball. The defense also can't put pressure on the Cowboys offense to have to score on every drive.

Both sides of the ball need to do their part in helping out the other.

Please, for the sake of my mental health, do not allow Rodgers to beat us in the final seconds of the game!! I don't think I can take it!! I want to see him pounded into the ground all day long!!!

what we don't need is another bend but don't break performance. Rod m is just convinced all I need to do is hold them to FG and we will win. We need to improve on TOP on offense and also yards allowed on defense cause anyone that looks at the end result of the new Orleans game and came away with the defense played great just didn't watch the game.

They weren't horrible but if it wasn't for the saints shooting themselves in the foot and refs calling them on multiple penalties and yes they performed better than the offense but it wasn't a great performance. You want to see great see Chicago bears and what they did to the Vikings

Defense allows Green Bay to move the ball from the 25 to the 25 consistently. We lose. Bend but don't break is fine. If you have an offense that can start in the first quarter. Not the 2nd half. Garrett teams even with Romo started offensively slow. So people can say Moore is the problem all they like but it still smells of Garrett.

Oops, meant to say our Dline wore their Oline like jackets. In retrospect, it could well be both sides of the ball.
It's the Celebrated-QB-Effect on officiating.
