Looked pretty good. Pass rush was not there most of the game and the run defense needs a lot of work. But it's the 1st game.

It felt like eli had all day to throw though. I guess this is your classic bend but don't break defense

Not really. Eli was getting the ball out quickly with short passes. I haven't looked at the stats but his longest pass (14yards or so) probably was the one he threw to OBJ near the goal line when DLaw jumped offside.

They played their worst drive on that final drive, and still somehow -- still not sure how -- found a way to force a stop at the 1-yard line.

This will continue to be a bend-but-don't-break unit, but they've proven we can win with that approach.

Definitely a good effort.

That drive was also helped by Mincey's penalty as well.

I thought the Dallas D did pretty well.

We held OBJ to 44 yards and no game changing plays.
We held the Giants to 280ish yards and basically 9 points on real drives, with only 1 real long drive.
Claiborne looked good, Patmon looked good. Carr and Jones looked ok. Jones is literally getting beat by great passes when he gets beat.

Areas of improvement:
The worst drive we gave up was the last one. We couldn't get off the field and needed a Giants blunder to help save the game.
Disappointed that Lawrence didn't show more. He and Mincey got very little pressure. Gregory did much better before leaving the game.
Lee looked a 1/4 step slow compared to 2012 Lee. But thats to be expected as he shakes off rust.
Mincey did a poor job of outside contain on some plays.
Interior linemen did a poor job of pocket containment, letting Eli move forward to get first downs and to create passing lanes on 3rd down.
We did not get a lot of penetration from middle interior linemen. However, they did clog things up so that LBs could make plays.

Hitchens and Lee played well. When McClain comes back our LBers should be great.

Carr and Claiborne played well. Patmon was good in the slot. I heard Byron Jones' name a bit. He's still a work in progress. Did Corey White play? I didn't see him once but he was our best CB this training camp and preseason. I hope we utilize him. Wilcox played well.

Our D-line wasn't that great. I really wish we would've played Gregory in the base early on. Flowers was no match for him. Mincey should not be starting over Gregory even if they don't trust Gregory against the run. T. Crawford was solid. Hayden was invisible like usual. T. McClain was better. Why was Coleman inactive? He was a beast the past few months. He needs to be on the field, especially while Gregory and Hardy are out.

Mincey should not have been the starter. Or he shouldn't have played more than Gregory. He was basically ineffective.

Gregory when he was in there caused havoc to the Giants offense. Although he didn't get a sack they had to put a TE on this side to keep him away from Manning.

Unfortunately he got injured. But I feel good about him knowing he can be a destructive force in this league.

Lee was awesome- good to seem him diagnose plays at the snap- he is about as sure a tackler as we have and it doesnt look like hes lost a step.

Mincey didn't really show anything and had the DUMBEST penalty ever.

Lawrence was a little disappointing- I thnk 6-7 sacks is more realistic from him.

Crawford was solid.

The Cornerbacks were outstanding. No busted coverage at all. I hate MO Claiborne but honestly he played great last night.

JJ Wilcox laid the wood and had OBJ scared.

I thought Church took some really bad angles on run plays.

Defense held the Giants to 9 points. Now the Giants aren't quite up to their full roster yet. When they get Cruz they will really be something offensively with all the receivers they have. Our offense pretty much gifted 17 points to a solid team. You don't do that and win very often.

Only guy who disappointed was Mincey, he let a rook play him like a fiddle during the most important time in game.

I never liked Mincey. Never have, never will. This isn't the first time the guys has done something stupid either. They never should have met his little BS contract demands. What 3rd stringer demands a new contract? Oh yeah, and we gave it to him. I honesty believe that you could start any guy at right defensive end and get 6-7 sacks out of them over 16 games. See Shante Carver.

They were outstanding !!! They had to deal with all the turnovers of the offense !!! There were more turnovers there than at a McDonalds drive thru !!!

Isn't it Arby's that sell the turnovers? McDonalds are more burnt apple Pie than turnovers.

Solid defensive effort.

I remember other efforts against the Giants at home... giving up hundred's of yards through the air.

This pass defense was solid.

They play like that the rest of the year and this will be a decent defense.

Actually, we were getting pressure from the outside, particularly from Randy Gregory. Eli would just step up in the pocket. The other thing to realize is that Eli had some three-step drops and throw. You really can't get much pressure on the quarterback if he's releasing it that fast.

Mincey is okay as a rotational guy, he's actually better when he is not starting and having to be the guy.

I felt defense did alright. I am concerned right now about Gregory situation outside of that they played pretty solid ball. Need those turnovers which they were unable to create in this game.

Anyone doubting the pass rush needs to just take a look at the stats. Eli under 200 yards passing should tell you something about what kind of passes they were throwing all game. And fortunately for us, it only netted them 9 points (IF you take into account drives not started from turnovers).

We provide a middle rush, and Gregory has two maybe three sacks.
