Defense Question

It seems obvious to me that our defense has been exposed along the way here in the last month or so. But when did it happen? Who did it? What did they do? It's baffling the S*!t out of me. You can ran on us. You can throw on us. We cant sack you. The list goes on.

Jerry needs to bring in the crew from NCIS to figure this out,

Rob Ryan's gameplans and scheme haven't changed much since the Philly game. The DBs have been playing soft "keep it in front" zones, the line doesn't move around, front 7 isn't active presnap at all.

I was 50/50 on the Rob Ryan hiring...now I want him gone.

How we go from holding NE down to what is happening is something I don't understand.

2 scoring drives, 15points, in 3:53

that sums up this defense... 12pt lead w/ less than 6minutes remaining. 2 drives, 15pts, in 3:53.

It doesn't help that the offense can't run out the clock for squat either...

Umm...when do we start blaming the players? Newman, Spears, James, Spencer and to a lesser extent Ware have all been here through various coaches and the defense coincidentally has had the "soft" reputation throughout. The first four need to go....Ware needs to finally step up in a big game....I'm talking two sacks, forced fumble, numerous pressures type game....because outside of that Saints game a few years back I don't remember an impact performance in a impact game by him.

I believe that some of the players on this D, like Newman, have no confidence at this point. I think Ryan needs to go the Pasqualoni route of playing more zone, keeping everything in front, and making the O methodically march down the field with long drives so that at least you're slowing the game down and making them work for it.

I thought Ryan's whole utility was his "chaos", "amoeba" or whatever packages that caused so much confusion for QBs and protections that they created sacks and turnovers. Well, right now all they're doing is leaving our DBs way too exposed.

At some point when you've stopped the bleeding a little, then bring back some of these mad scientist concepts. But don't keep using then when they're getting you burned.

NE doesn't have much team speed, Philly, Washington and Giants have speed. If our blitz doesn't get home, qb finds the soft spots in the secondary.

Sadly that was the last time we looked like we came to the field with an effective gameplan. Sure we held the Buffalo and St Louis to 7 points but those teams couldn't get out of their own way.

It doesn't bother me so much that teams have "figured us out". But the problem is we haven't adjusted. Is our personnel so bad that we simply can not play a different way? Is Ryan just set in his ways and refuses to adjust? I dont know.
