Defense wins championships so what areas on D, needs adjustments?

Based off my theory of OLINE/DLINE/QB being the only positions you pay there's some moves to be made.
Trade Dez, get a pick and money off the books
Try again to deal Scandrick I'll take a 6-7th
Same with Mayowa

The Idea is clear dead weight.
The so called experience of Scandrick didn't help, Dez can't produce playing with an average QB, I see $3million for Mayowa who won't be getting much playing time with Irving and Taco playing well.

I would take all three...and never turn to salt by looking back.

Yea, I really like Miller. I am not sure Dallas would be interested due to his size and working best out of the slot. If he was bigger and could slip in as a wideout over those other two, I would absolutely draft him.
I like Ridley, Kirk and Sutton. Some of the other guys are smaller and seen to be slot only. We need outside number 1 guy

I used to want Crawford gone, but if they put him inside with a big legit NT his strengths are maximized and weaknesses minimized.

What scouts are you hearing this from? Brugler has him 4, Miller doesnt have him in the top 50, Jeremiah & Crabbs have him rated in rnd 2/3. So I’m not sure where you get this unless your connected with actual scouts which if you are, more power to you. You’d be mich better connected than I
I'm not getting into all that. I'm just saying after the combine and closer to the draft Miller will rise

Before this season started out, the defense looked shaky, short termed...but it looked strong - long termed.

With the production in the secondary and Demarcus Lawrence now looking like a stud in the defensive front...well, Dallas is looking a lot stronger on the defensive side of play. Lee still has way too much sway as to effectiveness if missing from the lineup. That has to be taken care of via the draft...as to projections for the long haul.

He didn't spend the season injured and was reliable and a contributor.

It does. To be more specific, if you want to beat playoff QB's, you must get in their face and stay there. Giants, PITT, both rode their disruptive DLine to 2 super bowl wins w/ average QB's.
This is what gives me hope even with Dak remaining a slightly above average QB, based on his 2017 season. Perhaps this team is finally going to do what they've needed to do for over a decade. Build a dominant defense. Perhaps Dak's down season turns out to be a blessing in the disguise, by putting focus on bolstering our defense

Well, for one thing, it'd be nice if we sign Star Lotolelei and/or Earl Thomas. Then draft Vea and/or R. Smith at 19. Do that, and I think this defense is deadly already.

Heck, the Jags and Vikings have excellent defenses. Jags and freakin' Bortles at QB and won a playoff game. Vikings have Keenum a career backup and with that defense he's not having to do too much. Both teams also have solid rushing attacks too.

Draft for LB'er depth in case the General goes down again and Jaylons foot still doesn't know whether to move left, right, up or down. Big strong NT AND PLEASE PLEASE A STRONG SAFETY. Enough of this guy should work, that guy should work

Excellent example.

:hammer:

And that my friend is wrong, Collins is a horrible 1T. The cowboys don't have a Good 1T on the roster, they have a few fat practice squad type guys but no one legit. Anybody know if Wilfork or Knighton want to come out of retirement?
LOVED Vince Wilfork.

First and foremost I thought that Dallas made significant improvements on the defense. It was gutsy to let Mo, Carr, Church and Wilcox walk. That is as drastic as change can be. It worked out for Dallas as I think that went from around 17th ranked to 8th this past season. A+ to the FO staff.

The biggest order for biggest is the team signing Hitchens and D-Law. Decide what to do with Gregory and Tapper as well. Release or keep? Will Taco be a force?

I like where the defense ended up at but Dallas can’t rest on their laurels. They have to be active with Free Agent signings (not bust the cap), the draft, and accessing where they truly are with the Roster.

Dallas has to build for the nickel. The team stays in the nickel for the majority of the game. I think it is around 65-75% of the time. The adage defense wins championships still holds true. I think if the Boys secure Lawrence and Hitchens They need another “War Daddy” on the opposite side of the line. Is that Taco, Tapper or Gregory? They also need to address the DT spot. Dallas uses a D-line rotation and they can not have a drop-off.Although I like Heath, I don’t think he was an improvement over Church and the team has to draft a SS with a high pick that can start day one. I think Heath fills a great role in the nickel, safety back-up and special teamer. Dallas also has to spend on the DT spot. Within the first 3 rounds I want the team to draft a SS, DE and DT. (Maybe even OT) How can the team keep Lee on the field more?

The defense has to be solid in the middle on each level. DT, Mike and safety.

In the later rounds and un-drafted they have to find a few DBs and LBs. The team has to assemble an elite, young and fast defense. Go Dallas!!!

And don't forget the Goose that lays the golden egg. The offense. Agree with your defensive assessment blackthorn
