Defense

I DO NOT want Rod back, but at least most of his defenses were scrappy and disciplined. In 2018, I only felt like there were two games that reached this level of horridness. In 2020, already 3 games in which our defense is clueless and overmatched.

They should stat rotating guys in from other practice squads and out of the current roster. Start with the DL.

They were protected by ball control, too. This offense seems best at an up tempo which is exposing the defense even more.

I knew it might be bad because they did absolutely NOTHING to address the secondary but I don't think anyone thought it would be THIS bad. I mean there really isn't one decently functioning unit of the Defense. They are all below average or worse. It's insane.

I thought the secondary would be okay. I was more concerned with the DL and LBs than the secondary. But now they have Awuzie and Brown out. The problem is, the safeties are so bad they exacerbate the bad CB play. Plus, other teams are exploiting Jaylon Smith in coverage. He is a giant hole in the defense. At some point, contract or no, he needs to go to the bench. I think they could get someone off the street to play better than Jaylon.

Then the problem is the DL. The interior DL is really bad. Hill makes a play now and again, but no one is a constant force inside. The problems at DT have been with the Cowboys for years and they do not emphasize fixing it. Who really thought Poe was the solution? Apparently no one in Dallas watched the Panthers defense last year.

I was thinking the defense would get better with time. But it has gotten worse. The Browns are a decent team, not great but decent. The could have had 60 points today and 600 yards if they didn't stop throwing the ball downfield after going up 38-14. The manhandled the Cowboys defense.

And frankly, the Cowboys offense was held scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. They have nothing to brag about either. All those points and yards in the 4th quarter was the Browns letting the Cowboys burn up the clock.

This team is a disaster. Something is wrong at the core. It needs to be blown up. It's like an invention that seems like its going to work but the inventor tinkers with it for years thinking there is some minor bug when in fact the fundamental concept is wrong.

I'm in the mode of I think Jaylon should be cut. Don't we have some room under the cap this year to eat some of his salary? DO it.

Great offenses usually come up short of the Super Bowl or sputter in the Super Bowl. The Rams greatest show on turf is the only great offense I can think of that pulled off a Super Bowl win.
Chiefs last year? Their defense wasn't putrid, but the offense was pretty damn good.

They had an excellent offense but not one of the all-time great’s. The Pats in 07 and the Broncos in 2013 were all time great offenses that came up short in the Super Bowl.

Chiefs had the best D In the NFL last season over the last 6 games. Held 3 of their last 6 opponents to single digits.

They changed D's in the offseason, took a while to gel. Great D play saved the super bowl for them.

When everyone went blank when they named Nolan as the DC, now we all see why.

Get your DC, OL n RB coaches doing better.
