Maybe I am remembering incorrectly, but that first half I recall our defense dialing up a lot more blitzes. This of course came after Jerruh's comment leading up to the game about Kiffen taking more risks. What absolutely baffled me is us going away from that completely in the second half.

I know that the blitz can get you burned, but our D is so banged up that they can not compete playing straight up.

Am I remembering the game incorrectly? Seems like when we would blitz multiple defenders was when we experienced the most success. It couldn't be that elementary though. Could it?

I honestly can't recall whether or not that was the case but we certainly didn't rush Matt Flynn into doing anything foolish in the 2nd half. Judging by how ineffective we were in that last half, I don't see where it would have hurt much to throw everything but the kitchen sink at him. As it was, he ended up looking like a champ. This defense is in a rut it can't seem to excape from. Of course, if the offense ran more, who's to say the outcome wouldn't have been much different? Any way you slice it, we're most assuredly not a team making good decisions.

The def in the first half worked because of 1 guy Durant. He really is a guy this team needs to keep. He really understood what Kiffin wants to do. I think that more then anything is what is missing. There are so many injuries that these guys dont know what to do. Durant is a smart guy. He knew where to assign people and how to adjust. he understood what the offense was trying to do.

That and i think this def wanted to prove something. Bt when he got hurt then Sims the street guys took over. And the middle of the field opened up. Because the lbers didnt know their jobs. Safeties had to make up for the lber loses, and that affected the cbs because they lost that safety help. I still have no idea why kiffin refuses to play dime.

You're right on Durant. He played a big role in the first half and was in on quite a few plays prior to his injury.
