To me, McCarthy's status is a plus. You could possibly be the head coach next year. Just take care of your side of the ball this year.

Whoever is hired on as the new DC could probably be looking at a 1 and done situation! If McCarthy & Dak don’t get it done next year, which no one is betting on, they’ll both be gone and the new HC will want to bring in his own guys! It may work for a guy like Zimmer.
Oh the new HC will want to bring in his own guys, so that coach is not hired! Says Jerry, because Jerry is in charge, says Jerry.

Well everyone except Caleb wants to go to Chicago! Having said that the NiL money is so good some of these dudes that aren’t good enough stand to take a pay cut in the NFL..
A player can stay in school if they’ve secured NIL money, but college football has limited years eligibility. Stay and get injured, the NIL money goes away, the NFL opportunity is not what is was pre-injury, if at all.

Or, Zimmer is the old veteran DC with head coaching experience that owners like to pair with young offensive minds. That's probably closer to what Jerry is thinking. Ride out next year before hitting the offensive reset button if it doesn't work. And let's be honest, it probably won't.

other than being a fantasy, what does having HC experience do for a coordinator, and treat this like a math class, show your work.

Al Harris has told everyone, he is out the door. this year or next, the man has no love for the organization.

this is what i hate about fans. Actual people do not do what you think they will do.

Dak has had EIGHT SEASONS to prove he can win big games and McCarthy has a 1-3 record in the playoffs in 3 seasons in Dallas. So your argument is that we need more of this? Everyone has a choke point (except the greats) & Dak has shown over & over that when the lights are the brightest he fads away! It wouldn’t have made a difference if we had Lombardi at the helm, bad QB play doesn’t overcome coaching in the NFL today.
Again. Dak gave up 10 or 14. Defense gave up 34 or 38....You can blame Dak until the cows come home. Your defense giving up that many points? Not even Mahomes gonna win. Dallas has way more worse things to worry about then one player. Dak didn't give up those points we'd had to score 40 to win. Thus the problem in Dallas even when Romo was there. Romo or Dak or bust! Pathetic!!!!!

Totally stupid what Jones is doing. 1 year hatchet over your coach and star quarterback. What free agent would even want to get involved here in Dallas except for the money. All in????????That should have been done Dak's rookie season. Just think where the team may of been if Jerry had brought McCarthy in a few years earlier? Wasted decade...."Jason Garrett"
All in was 2023. It was supposed to be enough. It's never going to be enough.

Most free agents care about the money so if Dallas is paying I don't think the coaching situation is of big concern. Sure the Cowboys could lose out to teams like the 49ers and Chiefs which have been 2 of the best teams the last few years if things are close to equal.

Players don’t think like fans.

They go where the $$$ is.

They aren’t taking $3 years, $10 million per to play for certain teams compared to $3 years $20 per to play for a crappy team.

$$$ talks. This is why Washington and Chicago will sign any and everybody in a few weeks
Sure money talks to players. 3 for 10 mil. But how about that money AND the chance to win a ring? Now you’re talking.

Yes like all other human beings, money is very important to professional athletes, but when you also add the strong chance of winning a championship on top of the money, it’s doubly alluring.

For sure, players chase money. But most great players also chase the chance to be part of something that lasts longer than a lifetime of money - the right to call yourself a champion. For the really great ones, it’s also the chance to have a ring and perhaps even a yellow jacket and a bust at Canton, Ohio. Now that’s the total package.

you keep thinking its yesteryear.

how many players across the NFL get their contract and mail it in? a lot more than those taht want to strive. Dallas is NOT a place to come and stive, its a place to come and die. Feel proud, we have sunk to the depths of this pool.
