Darren Perry (sp?) assistant in Greenbay is what Rod woodson said would be a good option to run the 3-4 defense.

darren perry was an assistance under dom capers and dick lebeau(sp).....but still I will take Dom Capers in a heart beat

Reggie Herring was under Dom Capers also

Herring first served as a graduate assistant coach at Oklahoma State University in 1981 under head coach Jimmy Johnson. After one year, Johnson promoted Herring to coach OSU's linebackers, a position that he would hold until 1985

in 2002, Herring accepted a position in the NFL with the Houston Texans to coach linebackers,

Although Herring only held the Texans position for two years, he coached the 2003 league-leader in tackles, Jamie Sharper

A real upgrade over what we've got please!

That's all I'm asking for. Don't care who the person is, just so long as they're a real upgrade over what we've got.

I prefer someone with experience....an older guy that we can lockdown for years. You hire a young guy and he'll be gone within 2 years to be a HC somewhere else

true....

I think you lock a proven coordinator in for several years regardless of age. And make sure a talented assistant coach or two can be groomed to replace.

I find myself really wanting Dennis Thurman.

Just curious as to why. I know he's been successful as a DB coach, comes with a good pedigree, and of course is a favorite among Cowboys fans. But is there something specific about him you like as DC?

BTW, Merry Christmas, Hos (and to all).

Several factors actually. First, much like Jason Garrett, I have always wanted him to come here and coach once he got into coaching. Second, everywhere he goes the DBs create turnovers. Did you know Ronnie Lott credited him with teaching him how to be a better player while they were at USC together? It's true, look up Lott's HOF induction speech and you will see it. From the time he was in college he understood how to get better. Third, he's got the Cowboys pedigree I crave. I believe there is a pride in being a Cowboy that cannot be overlooked and if we get enough guys who are, they will give their best. That includes coaches. Lastly, he has been in some of the most aggressive Defensive schemes in the NFL with the Ravens and with the Jets and I would like to steal some of that aggression. I think he is smart, motivated, and capable of being a Dick Labeau quality DC.

I'd be all about Dennis coming here. Newest version of Therman's Thieves in the backfield!!!

Assuming for sake of argument that Garrett gets the HC job, how much chance of that do you see happening?

Mike Nolan might be available if Miami cleans house, which rumor has it, they will do after the season is over.

In Miami, his defense is 4th in Yds/G, 7th in PPG, Only 4 teams commit fewer penalties, and 8th in 3rd down %. All things considered, not too shabby, especially considering how bad their offense is.

Another blast from the past would be Todd Bowles, who is also in Miami right now.

From your fingertips to the Big Man's ears, please. Pressure defense and defensive back cure all in one.

He made Ed Reed in Baltimore, pretty much. Took Samari Rolle past his prime from Tennessee and turned him around in Baltimore too and added tread to the tires.

With the Jets - look what he did with Antonio Cromartie in one off-season. Turned him from a "bum that's afraid to tackle" into arguably the most feared CB on that defense this year (yes, I think Cromartie has played better than Revis this year).

I think Revis' level of talent goes without saying as well.

Imagine what he'd do with Jenkins and Scandrick, who both have very high ceilings, as well as Newman who still has some gas left in the tank? It'll be Pick City in Dallas.

Truthfully, no matter who is the coach less than 5% chance. It is just what I hope for.

I hear that Capers is signed through 2011. No idea if this is true or not. I sort of expect the DC to either be Pasqualoni or Al Groh.
