I was wondering why Defensive Coordinators Dick Lebeau from the Steelers and Johnson from the Eagles have not had any interviews for head coaching jobs in the last few years. Their defenses have been pretty good and this year they rank in the top 5. Is their something that I am missing that teams do not even take a look at them?

LeBeau has been a HC before and was terrible. They probably turn down any requests. It also doesn't help they are both almost 70.

because they're not leaving
why not? I would think that a lot of coordinators would want to be a head coach but if these two do not, then both teams have made out big for continuity and explains a lot why their defenses are so good year in and year out. Thank you for your input.

Neither have any interest. Both are up there in age and make really good money working as D-Coordinators. I always laugh when Eagles fans complain about Johnson. He's the reason why Andy Reid is still a head coach.

LeBeau coached the Bengals. He went 8-24 in his two full seasons as their coach.

I think age is a factor, at least in Johnson's case. He've been an outstanding D coach and for years and you would think he might get a sniff at some point.

For Lebeau, I guess he is a bit like Wade, historically a good coordinator but not necessarily a good head coach.

Johnson has stated that he has no desire to be a HC.

Lebeau had his shot and is happy where he is.

What halfway intelligent Eagles fan would ever complain about Jim Johnson?

Wow. And I thought are fans were delusional.
