Defensive Coordinators?

Assuming we kept Garrett and Marinelli got the boot who would you want and who could we realistically get to replace Marinelli that would be a clear upgrade??

Maybe Steve Spagnulo, the giants guy if he gets fired?

That might be too good of a hire for Jason Garrett though. He probably doesn’t want any young defensive coordinator. Reason being if a younger defensive coordinator comes in and does well and Garrett doesn’t it is easier to fire him and promote the DC. Garrett is a snake/con artist to the highest degree.

My guess is if Rod goes we hire some 60 year old coach who has no potential to be a head coach.

Our defense was already at a talent deficit last year, and now this year, you blow up the best group on the defense, which is the secondary, put all rookies and second year players on it and expect it to get better?

They certainly are a lot better than what we've seen this year. The defense only allowed one game where an opponent scored 30 or more in regular season and that was against the Steelers, where they scored 30. We're 11 games in and we've had 4 games where the opposition has scored 30 or more. Trevor Siemian lit us up for over 40. This defense is significantly worse.

We've heard Rob Ryan was the problem, Lane Kiffen was the problem, and now Marinelli was the problem. No coordinator is coming here and creating a shut down defense with a FO that thinks that a defense composed of former backups (Heath), conversion projects (Byron Jones), other teams' castoffs and rookies/second year players is sufficient. Those guys we signed in free agency to bolster the defense aren't even on the team anymore. We'll be complaining about the next DC next year when he's not shutting down teams with this rag tag defense that is predicated on one player who has an injury history -- Sean Lee. If you fire Marinelli, you have to take Garrett with him. We've sacrificed enough coordinators to cover for Garrett.

Lewis is a gem, but we could have had Lewis AND resigned one of those players.

Wade had pretty good defenses. And I agree garrett should go too....
