Defensive free agency plan

Everyone knows I want Logan Mankins, and I'm pretty sure everyone else is on that bandwagon now, but the real deal i think is in our defense...

Everyone wants the CB who's name i can't spell or pronounce, but i think our CORNERS are serviceable with a decent pass rush.

Assuming we stick with the 3-4. Which seems to be a huge mistake for this team.

Fix the front 7.

Replace Brooking with Lee. Check.
Replace James with a linebacker who can cover.
Give Spencer another year to develop, and get a better linebacker coach.

Here are the free agents I think we should get.

Defensive End - Richard Seymour (1-2 year contract)
Defensive Tackle - Haloti Ngata.

Right there our defense is already fixed.

Ware - faster/cover linebacker to replace james - Lee - Spencer
Ratliff - Ngata - Seymour

We still have to replace our safeties, but thats going to have to happen regardless of what we do. I'm just asking for two major new additions on the line.

I've been calling for Ratliff to move to defensive end for years, and it really shows right now, he is just too small, and he can get pushed back. When it happens we get gashed by the run.

Richard Seymour is old, but still playing great football. Sign him to a 2-3 year contract that ends up 1-2 years of playing.

Paul Soliai - NT - Dolphins - I think if we get Bowles as DC and Rogers as DL coach then we target Soliai. This allows us to move Ratliff to DE.

Eric Weddle - S - Chargers - Ball doesn't cut it and Sensy will want the same amount of cash as Weddle, between the two, give me Weddle. I think between Weddle, Church and AOA we have our safety tandum.

Draft the "Prince" with #9 pick. Newman is on his last legs at 33, don't think he is physical enough to move to FS. Jenkins/Scandrick will improve with coaching.

DL - Igor Soliai Ratliff - with Lissmore/Brent/Bowen as back-ups

LB - Spencer/James/Lee/Ware (Butler/Williams,B/Williams L./Draft pick)

CB - Newman/Jenkins/Scandrick/Prince/Ball

S - Weddle/Church/AOA/

We can always leave Josh Brent at NT and move Ratliff over, Josh Brent was solid for us and we can get a Back up nose in Free Agency.unless Brent stays as Back up and we get that Nose from the Dolphins
