We've all wondered if anythings changed. Past two games were playing a more Kris Richard aggressive type of defense. Were blitzing more, but the thing i'm noticing though is we don't have to all out blitz to create havoc. They're are two advantages we have on defense.
1. The ability to cover 1 on 1 in the secondary and at LB. Maybe not great, but good enough.
2. Jaylon Smith - Coming downhill he is a nightmare. So when we send a 5 man pressure, not only does the offense have to block jaylon, But guys like lawrnce and quinn are getting one on one matchups. Just the threat of him caused a sack two weeks ago in philly when he backed into coverage.
I'm seeing pressure packages i haven't seen all year the past two games. Defensive Pressure = Turnovers, simple as that. Sure we'll give up the occasional big play, but we have an offense that can make up for those. The turnovers we create are well worth the risk.Once we have a lead we let our guys go to work on the line like tonight.
It was a crime we didn't blitz every play vs the jets oline. Glad we made adjustments.
