I can remember seeing a Seahawks game in 2012 and saying to myself, "Wait, what is going on here? These guys look incredibly intimidating on defense…is that really the Seahawks?"
The ‘hawks were wearing all dark uniforms—top and bottom and they were dominating the other team. They had amassed enough players to go past that tipping point we all love to think about. They had become a force. And they also had created new uniforms for the occasion. Very dark, top to bottom. It looked awesome.
Dallas should follow suit. With DeMarcus Lawrence entering his second year and Greg Hardy on board to go with Tyrone Crawford, the defensive line will look substantially more dominant. And Nick Hayden will lose his starting job at the one technique spot this summer as well, one way or another. Davon Coleman has a much higher ceiling than Hayden and I believe he will come on strong this year in camp. And there is a very real possibility that Dallas adds another DT in the draft. So the Cowboys are going to be very stout and very disruptive up front this fall.
At linebacker, things are looking very solid as well. At safety, J.J. Wilcox is into his third year. Recall that Wilcox didn’t even start playing safety at the college level until his senior year, so this year looks to be a very big leap year for him. He came on strong at the end of 2014. In the first seven games, he averaged 3.8 combined tackles with no interceptions. In the last nine, he averaged 5.2 tackles a game and had three interceptions.
There is a distinct chance that Wilcox is about to pay off in a very big way for Dallas.
