The only thing that hurts Bland is he’s only had defensive snaps in 9 of 15 games and only started 6 games. If he had played a lot more he would definitely be in the conversation.

True but the production in those games, Only reason I bring it up is because now you have 105 talking about it and some of his teammates talking about it.

NFL rookie rankings at midpoint of 2022 season: Four Seahawks in top 25, but Jets' Sauce Gardner at No. 1

Looking at list of rookie, I can't help but think Bland should at least be in the conversation. His 5 picks thus far, far outweigh that of Gardner.
Gardner has allowed 27 rec on 61 targets playing as an outside corner matching up with the opposing teams best receiver including mismatched vs TEs. Bland has given up 44 rec on 59 targets primarily playing in the slot until this week! Splash plays aside, it’s not even close!

Agree.

He has 5 INTs and has played exactly 50% of the snaps (i.e. projects to 10 for a full time CB).

He won't win but should be considered.

I think he should at least be in the conversation. I agree with reasons why he would not win it but he clearly deserve to be in the conversation

Gardner is a very clear-cut DROY this year.
He's being used like a multi-year all-pro already.

The steal was Tariq Woolen, though we have to happy with stealing Bland n the 5th

Understand. Don’t get me wrong, I love the kid- he’s played great lately at times for sure with 5 picks. But he has no realistic shot for DROY because he’s only played defensive snaps in 9 games and only started 6. I just want to see him continue to learn and develop.

Too late for Bland to get an award, but he's playing on the level of a top CB in his draft class.

Look forward to seeing McCreary matchup vs the Cowboys WRs. Maybe Bland gets to lock up Burks.

Also, I'm more interested in Bland finishing the season strong vs Playoff competition.

He’s played well lately, but he’s also not asked to cover the opposing #1 WR routinely like Sauce. Woolen has also been great in a bigger role than Bland has been. Aidan Hutchinson with 7 sacks and 2 INT’s isn’t anything to sneeze at either

He doesn't match up with the teams best wr though. He stays on one side just like Woolen

Yeah, Bland won’t win but he certainly belongs in the conversation. He has been very good.

Gardner will win and he deserves it. His stats don’t tell the whole story. He is really, really good.

Bland is playing like a first round corner… one that was definitely worth a first. To get him in the 5th is just crazy good.

Woolen is a huge steal too.

Good crop of rookie corners.
