I know that even the best players we've got like DeMarcus Lawrence have to be given a break. However, I've never been happy with Marinelli about his choices on when to substitute.

On Detroit's final TD, we had RDE Randy Gregory, DT Caraun Reid, DT Daniel Ross, LDE Dorance Armstrong out there. I guess we would have brought Crawford and Lawrence back in on third down. However, with the game possibly on the line there's no way I would have had those two on the sideline during that drive.

We seem to like to take Zeke out in the Red Zone too.

how many plays had Crawford and Lawrence played before maybe they needed rest?
I dont know just thinking out loud.

I'm okay with Crawford being on the sideline on crucial downs, he's JAG.

You must not be watching. His work when next to Lawrence has been exceptional. Their chemistry when running stunts is unnatural. He also stops the run at a very high clip, pushes the middle of the pocket when not double teamed and still frequently runs down plays on the outside.

He's not a star or a pro bowler, but when playing at the rush DT spot like he should always, he's a fantastic role player and integral part of the success of the Cowboy's defensive line.

It's how he gets them to go all put on the snaps they play. They know they don't need to conserve energy because they'll get rest when needed.

You choice on the final 2 defensive series:

Next to last: 85% DLaw
Last 80% DLaw

Next to last" "110%" DLaw
Last: "110%" Armstrong

My question would be more situation specific. They've had some 3rd and 1 or 1 yard from the goal-line plays where they didn't have the players you would expect on the DL. It's 1 snap.

Sidenote: What is the status of Woods?

All I know is that “dime package” today? Stinks.
But as to the rotation I assume Irving will help, and certainly getting Collins back will make a change in who’s on the line given the same scenario.

I noticed that Armstrong got a ton of snaps early on in this game. I'm not sure what to make if that, but you would think on the final drive with the game on the line the best defenders would have been playing. So I agree with your point.

Woods may be top 10 on this team in terms of importance. His play has been that significant.

There's no doubt that we have to sub. It's when you choose to sub that's important. Our offense controlled the clock in the second half. The defense wasn't out on the field near as much. Game's on the line, you put your best on the field.

This you put your best out there even if they have IVs and sucking the oxygen tank.

At one point, they showed that we had a major advantage in time of possession in the second half. I think everyone will agree that we have to sub at times to keep players fresh. However, when you know the other team probably has one drive left or it's game over, it's time for your best players to suck it up and get out there.

What Marinelli does would have been the equivalent of sticking Rod Smith out there for the final drive instead of Elliott, and Elliott was dealing with a twisted ankle and heavier workload than he's had the past few weeks.

Does he also understand, that those player just might be called upon later down in the season, as well?

This craps been going on since Marinellie has been here. What has been done to rectify it? Still same sad coaching and defense. The zones been abused time and again over the years, what has been addressed or fixed?
