Defensive Tackle

Price? Who is Price? Is that the guy who never made a play before he got hurt?

He was looking decent before his injury. So he had actual snaps. So he made more plays than guys named Bo, Darius and Rico. As many have them at legend status already.

Next draft class is expected to be all time great on the DLine. This should be the last year of DLine woes.

Yeah once Rod is gone. Maybe they throw 6 to 8 draft picks and FA signings at DT and S next year.

The way he acted I thought ivie was a shoe in. I as thinking he was gonna be great. He didn’t even make the PS.

Same here. But thankfully, that's the last time I allowed myself into thinking that Marinelli knew what he was doing with the team's defensive tackle position.

It's only gotten worse since then. Neither of the two guys they drafted even made the team, and situations at the position have only gotten worse since then, due to injury, suspensions, and neglect.

Now we're trying to get by with undrafted guys and other teams busts.

We should have not let Atlanta outbid us for Terrell McClain, I don't know what we offered, but it probably was on the low side

The sad thing is that I think guys like Price and Collins end up getting bad raps simply because of the position the staff puts them in.

Collins had a very promising season as a 3 Tech as a rookie. Due to 1 Tech issues, which were largely self-inflicted by this organization, Collins had to move there and for many fans, he simply got lost in the shuffle. So in 12 months the kid went from a promising 3 Tech with some decent quicks to a guy that fans think is another in a long line of washouts at the 1 Tech.

Price is a nice player. As a backup. But he'll likely face the scourge of fans because the staff will over play him thinking he's something he probably isn't.

It's a shame because there are actually some making of a decent interior DL. Imagine if your two deep at the 3 Tech was Irving/Collins and the 1 Tech was say someone like Hankins/Price. That's a DT rotation you could get around and you still have a guy like Jones that also has a bit of flexibility.

He was decent before he got hurt, I want Collins back at 3 Tech

Which is something I don’t understand. He was under kiffen for years and it’s his basic Defense. It worked so well in tampa because of the DT position being disruptive. But Marinelli likes lighter DT that can get tied up and get us gashed in the run game. He was letting our CB play 15 yards off of a WR. When Marinelli gets good production from the D-Line his Defense works well but it’s hit or miss.

Brutal. Lol. I like it. It does seem like we see problems years ahead of this staff. Safety has been a need for a decade.

And I fondly remember getting thoroughly criticized by the Kool Aid Club for daring to question the Corey Procters, David Arkins, and Phil Costas of the world not being good enough.

But now, those same people want to praise Jason Garrett for doing exactly that.

I don't either. Marinelli was the defensive line coach when they used a first round draft choice on Anthony McFarland, despite the fact that they had first rounder and perennial all pro Warren Sapp already. But he's ignored and under appreciated the nose tackle position since he's been in Dallas. I guess he's forgotten his own history?

If we don't get adequate DT play this year then Marinelli needs to get shot in one knee, a baseball bat to the other knee and then fired. That is all.

I can already hear the chants of "we can't rebuild the defense in one year" (8 years really but whose counting ?)

I can only assume the Cowboys might be waiting for August cuts?

I am still unsure how they can look at their DT situation and think it's fine. I also wonder how they think S is fine. They really only have 3 safeties worth anything on the roster in Heath, Woods and Frazer. Please tell me they aren't thinking that's all they need for the season.
i would bet money thats exactly what they are doing (waiting for cuts

I hope but they've shown little to no interest in those two positions. It's bizarre to me. Safety is the one that really has me bumfuzzled. They at least have bodies at DT. They literally have only three viable safeties on the roster. Only three.

No doubt.

And then David Irving had to be David Irving again, and that made everything even worse.

Position flex. Everybody can play everywhere (poorly).

I think back then he worked with what they gave him at line coach and kiffen likes the big nasty in the middle. As most teams do. Guessing that is where him and kiffen disagreed. But if I watch our CB playing 10 yards off the WR again this year I will pull my hair out and take hOstages. I am sick of seeing opposing teams having a 3rd and 12 and it being a manageable down for them. Our Defense looks great on 1st and 2nd down only to give up a big 3rd down play.

i wont lie its crazy and i REALLY hope not but they could be thinking position flex with Chido
it just sounds like what theyve done in the past with linebackers, tackles etc
