How good did Antwaun Woods look? Jones too. I think we got lucky and found a couple of guys.

The defense is really shaping up nicely and it's just so disappointing that we lose a guy like David Irving who could really help put us over the top on the DL. He hurt his team.



Also, where is Jihad Ward? So much hype all offseason.. Pads came on and he has disappeared.

He didn't disappear! I saw him get off the ball so quick he was in their backfield before the ball was snapped. Some call it encroachment, I call it a quick get off. But honestly, give him another game or two.

Actually, if you somewhat understand the defense that Dallas runs, then you see why some monster 330 pound DT is not what they want or need. Woods and Jones did a great job in the middle forcing runs to the side and also pushing the pocket. The DE held their assignments and for the most part the run game was shut down and still got plenty of pressure on the QB. JMO, but Ward played better than many thought, very quick in beating his guy and forcing pressure.

The other point is that Collins will be back soon (or so say the experts) and Irving will still have a spot after his suspension for the first four games. Regardless if Irving does get back, the DT spot looks better than expected and will be even better with a healthy Collins. Irving could take it to a new zip code if he comes back with a force. What also is going to help to me is when not if Earl Thomas is traded for to be the free safety. It will change the parameters for the QB making a slight hesitation which will result in sacks.

Overall encourage by the first defense defense and offensive.

Antwaun Woods was a real find.
He was solid last night.
Keep buildin' on it 64...and he'll be the guy from wk 1 on.
I love Datone Jones...especially vs the run...the more he plays...the more Im impressed...he's a good'n.
I saw Ward in the backfield more than once...but Woods in my opinion looks like the starter.

I first noticed Woods ehen he tossed Frederick around like a toy. The dude is going to be real good. I have been dissapointed in Collins but so far Woods looks like the real deal. I hope the coaches are not afraid to let this kid beat out Collins for the starting spot. If he proves he's better give him his due.

anointing oils should remain on the shelves. huggies shouldn't be thrown away just yet. but woods and jones both had very solid performances. after woods had his moments against freddy in last week's practice and even threw a punch at freddy, Marinelli immediately moved him to the #1's.

He didn't disappear, he can push the pocket and apply pressure and he is going ro get better before the season starts. He is playing a different position than what he did with Oakland who runs a 3-4 defense
