At long last, Generation Y, the WB network, and the neo-teeny bopper movement have destroyed one of the last great vestiges of American cinema and television:

Thank you, Gen Y. I'm not certain whether I should laugh or cry.

I'm a huge Trek fan, but this doesn't look that bad to me. It might end up sucking, but I'll watch it and give it a try when it comes out. Most of the Trek movies sucked. It'd be hard to be much worse overall.

Oh, I'll give it a try.

I'll likely be camped outside, waiting in line for hours on end with other costumed freaks, so that I'm certain to see the very first showing. But you should understand that my response is purely Pavlovian, the product of years upon years of conditioning since childhood to respond at the mere mention of 'Star Trek' like a sixteen year old girl at a Beatles concert in the 1960s.

Oh, yes. I'll be there...even though the bridge looks like an Apple Store and the movie looks like an episode of One Tree Hill in outer space.

Haha. I'm right there with you. I love Star Trek. I'm looking forward to this. I think they went a little too youth-y with some of the crew, but it's being done by JJ Abrams and I'm a fan of his. I liked "Cloverfield" and I love the show "Lost".

Plus, I don't think it'll hurt the Star Trek franchise to get a reboot. The last couple of movies haven't been very successful. It needs a kick in the pants.

I enjoy Lost as well. Cloverfield was a good movie, even though it made me queasy.

I agree here. The Star Trek franchise has grown stale. It has not seen any substantive revision since TNG, in my opinion.

The OS has always been my favorite, though. At least Abrams is returning to where it started. My concern with the movie is its WB-ish feel.

I'm with you man, but I suspect that this movie is more geared towards bringing in some new blood anyways.

I like the WB/CW. Well, the only shows I watch on that network are Smallville and Supernatural. Smallville has been up and down and Supernatural is great.

This Star Trek movie looks as if it will be pretty good. I am not really a fan of any of the TV series, but I have seen all the movies. Most sucked, but there were a couple of good ones. This reboot should do well.

Looks better than any Star Trek movie I've ever seen. But trailers can be deceiving.

The only Trek movie I ever liked was the Wrath of Khan. Never cared for any of the others and I hated the TV shows.

Wrath of Khan is my favorite as well. I also really dug Undiscovered Country and First Contact. The others were alright except for Star Trek V with the big floating angry head. That sucked.

The one show that I really dug on that network was Reaper. It was always good for a laugh and the guy that plays the Devil was fantastic. I think it is set up for January 2009 to start season 2. Pretty entertaining if you haven't seen it before.

Wrath of Khan was definitely the best. It was also the least expensive by a considerable margin.

The quality of the movies in general really nosedived when the Next Gen crew started making them.

I am a big Trek fan. I like, at least somewhat, most of the movies. I can't wait to see this. I agree, the last few movies have been getting bland and the series could use a boost. This new movie could do just that.

I really liked most of the series as well. I thought DS9 was probably the weakest but it was ok. I even really liked Enterprise. I liked Scott Bakula as the captain.

I have never really watched anything on that network. I have watched smallville here and there and it is good.

I am however looking forward to Josh Schwartz's new internet only show Rockville. It looks pretty great and Schwartz is a tv genius. I am a huge fan of his. Chuck and entourage are the only shows I watch. And I think Chuck is fantastic.

Heck yeah, that thing was MONEY!

According to Director Nicolas Meyer, no prosthetic was involved; that was Ricardo Montalbon's real chest.

The new one looks like it could be pretty good. The last few kind of sucked.

I could watch the original series but was not a big fan of it.

Liked TNG, hated DS9, voyager was so so...Actually enjoyed Enterprise with Backula. I guess because by the time I started watching it the series was over but they were playing 3-4 episodes at a time on SciFi so I did not have to wait week to week just to see one episode.

I kind of figured they were going to possibly do an Enterprise movie but I guess not.

Don't know much about the actors for the main parts. I do think the guy they have set up for Spock looks the part and probably could pull it off somewhat due to his role in Heroes.

Like Simon Pegg but don't know how he would be as scotty.

Don't know about the guy playing McCoy...kind of hard thinking of the guy from LOTR and Pathfinder as Bones.

Wonder how that will play with the bones/spock comedy roles...if they even continue with that.

Should be interesting, hope it turns out ok.
