Watching NFL network today they had a very interesting segment on how Green Bay should attack Seattle D.

During that they had Irvin vs Deion.

Although it was just them slowly walking thru the technique it was telling that on both occasions Deion put his arm/hand in a hooking position on Irvins arms, as they simulated the downfield motion and what the receiver would have to do.

I believe they can have contact as long as it doesn't impede the receivers ability to catch the ball. At least to me it looked like his normal practice of a " legal hold technique"

Wonder how he would have fared under todays rules.....

Seattle still gets by with it.

Seattle's strategy is actually very smart.

They will literally interfere on every play, knowing full well that the officials cannot call it on every play, otherwise the game grinds to a halt. Using this method, the only times they get flagged is when it's really egregious.

It's bending the rules, and has some real smarts to it.

Yes, that appears to be exactly what they do; however, I have a feeling that if the Cowboys tried that approach that we would see the first NFL game in history where a team was penalized over 100 times.

Exactly. DBs can mug our receivers (especially Dez) but our guys can't even put a hand on the WRs or flags will be flying. Kind of pathetic...

Plus the refs know they are the darling defense of the media. So they don't want the fallout of being the ones to make Seattle lose for their penalties.

As for the Cowboys they will call it all the time. They won't care.

Knowing how the refs tend to " let the players play" will be interesting to see how much more aggressive Hawks are today....
