Deion on Carr baiting Rivers for INT and Ware showing up

Yea that's how I took it as well. I was shocked to see so many "He's a idiot" type comments. I guess dudes are so use to crapping on Deion that they don't even see when he's being humble. If people would read further Deion also says he likes Carr and he smiles when he watches him play.

I don't think it has anything to do with being oblivious to his apparent attempt to be humble. I think it has more to do with the fact that people are trying to explain what he meant because it made no sense. He's still a dumb *** even if he was being kind to Carr. Just because someone is being nice or humble it doesn't absolve them from being dumb.

There's more info giving it context now. Ben of Ben&Skin shame told him Carr was beat and could have been a Charger td. So the remark was more about that wasn't the kind of bait he used.

Then when would you think he was baiting the qb? Because the essence of baiting a qb is to make them think you are beat. Normally if a cb is beat they don't turn around looking for the ball they are coached to look at the wr when beat(you run faster that way) and to only look when your step for step. Carr was looking back at the qb and the flight of the ball just like Deion did back in the day. And Deion usually did it in the middle of the field because that is the hardest deep ball to complete. It's much easier for a qb to lead a wr across the field than to throw accurately vertically.

To me, it's a case of the pass rushers got home, disrupted the throw and allowed Carr to make a play. That's what's important. But as far as baiting a QB, I just don't think Carr is in a position to make a play on the ball if Rivers has an extra 2 seconds to throw the ball.

I agree. It's still a head scratcher even with the added context. I'm not trying to be vicious or anything. He's got a million reasons why he shouldn't care that he says things that make little sense. He was one of the best defensive backs to ever play the game and he's got a ton of money to play with. Being dumb is the least of his worries.

What didn't make sense? It was a comment on Carr's first interception. It was a great play but you'd be hard pressed to honestly tell me that if Rivers floats that ball more, that he'd still get an INT. Carr said he baited Rivers on it, and Deion made that comment about the lake in his back yard.

I thought it was funny. And seems like I wasn't the only one that thought so. Deion may not be the greatest analyst but some people around here need to lighten up a bit.

"I got a lake in my backyard and I dont use that kind of bait." Need I say more? What does his lake have to do with anything and the bait he uses in his lake? That's a cockeyed way of saying he doesn't cover the same way. I think it's funny you're actually trying to defend what he said. It was dumb. You can spin it and sugar coat it all you want. You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.

I think he's trying to say Carr was beat and was bailed out by a poor throw. Not trying to knock Carr because I loved us signing him and still do, but I don't think he was baiting Rivers unless there was a safety some were over top. I only saw the play once so that may have been the case, but if not, Carr was beat.

I think you got it right about what Deion was "trying" to say. With that said, I don't think Carr was trying to bait Rivers, but I also don't think he was in trouble either. Go back and watch the replay, he was never in trouble.

meh, it's a pre season game. if he got beat for a TD, you can certainly believe that Carr took a risk that he wouldn't take in a regular season game on that play. he got an int, that was nice but in the grand scheme of things.....

it's still just preseason

Obviously he means that the "bait" did not truly look like he was baiting, rather that he was "beat". In this instance Deion wouldn't use the type of bait that could be mistaken for being beat because that bait is particularly risky bait that could lead you to be beaten.

Deion was a master fisherman who's bait was never beaten.

Same here. A fan of both. That's part of why we tune in to see a Barkley or a Deion. They are entertaining and we often disagree with them. Who wants to watch a analyst they agree with 100% of the time?

Not I. If a guy is being paid to be an analyst I wan't his honest opinion whether it's crazy or not. I prefer this over the guy who's dancing around the subject just to avoid saying something that might be considered even remotely negative.

So Ben of Skin/Rodgers is a football analyst now?

I'm not at all surprised that the DFW Media looks at the negative and tries to downplay Carr's interception.

BTW Ryan said that Carr's play was a "plus-plus" because he was supposed to have safety help on the play.

In any case Rivers did underthrow the ball, as the replay will show, but Carr also was tracking the ball the entire time. Pay attention to the direction of his helmet in the last seconds of the video. Both Carr and Meachem have their heads turned back and are tracking to football. I don't know of many DBs that will stay step for step with a WR while they are tracking a football in the air.

It is great to see our DB's turn to see the ball, and Carr played the ball great. But if the ball is on target it would have been a long completion if not a TD.

The WR was two yards behind him when the ball was in the air after leaving Rivers' hand.

Still a great play by Carr, but the ball was underthrown.

It does? lol I still have no clue what he's talking about.

The metaphor doesn't really work but I get what he was trying to say. Essentially, he was saying Carr shouldn't take that kind of a risk. He said, " You don’t want to use that kind of bait. But he made the play, that’s all that counts."

he's trying to be clever and make a metaphor, but metaphors are suppose to make sense, his doesn't.

Yeah, I can't tell if he is actually giving him credit for baiting the throw or if he is saying that he wasn't baiting anything just beaten but made the play anyway and that is all that matters.

I hate Deion. I also hate Nate Newton. I don't know why people decide to put ex-players on the air, when they can't even speak proper English. Unfortunately, I lost my ebonics-decoder book.

I remember Eli underthrowing a ball badly vs. us in the 2nd meeting last year.

Victor Cruz ended up catching it, and it was the nail in the coffin IIRC.

No more miracle bailouts Sheli.

Calling someone dumb seems to contradict the statement above, even though I agree that he is far from the smartest..

That's what I thought. The safety got lost on the play. No way was he not supposed to even be in the picture.

That's true. I was just trying to imply my tone wasn't vicious when saying it. It's hard to show that over the internet. I don't like him very much but it's not like I have a feeling of complete disdain for the guy.
