Deion Sanders comments about Parcells

I always notice when Deion defends TO regardless of what happens on the field. He regularly ripped Bledsoe not hitting TO on every play. So after they show a clip of Parcells going off about Romo faking the spike and almost throwing a Bledsoe, Deion says; "He just annoys me. He's not their father, let the man play." Clearly disgusted that Parcell's has anything negative to say.

If Deion ever said anything intelligent, I'd at least have a little respect for him. And no Deion, Haley did not get suspended either.

Deion would make a great head coach

Exactly. Deion is never going to give a positive comment to any coach with even a hint of disciplinarian in him. If the inmates can't run the assylum, forget it.

And his offensive coach will be MC Hammer :D

:p:

Deion is an entertaining guy and one of my favorites as a player. But as a commentator and analyst of the game of football, I think he falls a little short.

I think if he ever had a football gig, that program or franchise would be riddled with discipline problems, jmot.

I saw that too. It was in response to Bill's post game pc comment that Tony "isn't perfect" and TR's decision to go with the 'clock' after being advised to do the 'watch', or vice versa.

But anyone who has watched Bill's pcs over the years knows when a player has won his heart. Tony has, and if Sanders can't see that, then I pity him. If he never experienced that bond with his coach, doubly so.

That 'tough love' is something special.

"But he's not their dad!", Deion protested.

True.

But for many of them, Bill's the next best thing.

Deion is terrible on TV. His fake, smarmy Hallmark television voice he puts on annoys the ever-loving crap out of me. Some people just aren't made for TV. He and Sharpe are not.

In an interview on Deion's "Beyond The Glory" biography, Bobby Bowden said that people would always ask him how he put up with that guy (Deion) and Bowden said he would say "What are you talking about he (Deion) was one of the easist players to coach that he has ever had".

I'm glad you posted this, because I saw it and I meant to. Deion is an ******. The last time I saw him cover the Cowboys, he was making fun of Parcells weight. He doesn't have any credibility, and I can't believe he'll be on the air any longer than this season. I couldn't believe he was complaining about a coach's right to criticize a player's performance.

It's good to know Deion had a close bond with a coach. He might not have been a player who would have thrived under Bear Bryant, but there is the 'right coach' for every player....

that's what Deion doesn't seem to realize..that Bill's approach is just what the doctor ordered for many, many personalities in today's NFL. Perhaps Deion would have chafed under it, but others thrive on it.

I also can see Bowden's view easily..Deion Sanders was a showboat extraordinaire, but never did he come across as 'uncoachable', imo.

Winning a Super Bowl as a Player is a little different then winning one with a Head Coach.

And Deion was a great great player but the teams he won rings with were already Great teams, he was just the finishing piece.

Again, no disrespect to Deion, but if by your premise, he can say what ever he wants because he has "as many rings", I dont think that is a sound argument.

I think it would be better served to just say he can say whatever he wants because he is an analyst and suppose to give his opinion.

Deion was a great player....he is not even an average analyst/commentary guy.

He is better off keeping his mouth shut IMO because every time he opens it he annoys me.:D

No if you read my post you would see that I never said that Deion can say whatever he wants because of the rings... I said he "feels" that he can and did you see the laughing emoticon?:D

He and Sharpe are not.

Sharpe is an outright (unintentional) comedian, desperate to be noticed. He called Cowher out saying the Steelers have to go with Charlie Batch. This week when asked about whether the Colts can run the table he said the Colts "must" run the table for what happened last year will happen again this year!

He's the king of hyperbole!

When saying a player isn't "perfect" is the only criticism he can think of, well, I'd agree that Parcells likes Romo. :)
