I wonder what the plan is for Watson.

The Cowboys signed him after he was cut by Jacksonville right after Dallas played Jacksonville. I think they signed him after he cleared waivers but that's not clear.

Despite only starting 6 games in 4 years for the Bucs, the Jags signed him to:
3/12/2014: Signed a three-year, $6.25 million contract. The deal contains $1.5 million guaranteed.

The Cowboys have kept him on the 53 but he's only been able to play in 1 game.

If they signed him after he cleared waivers then he is likely a free agent next year. If they claimed him on waivers then he is under contract for next season.

It just seems odd to keep him on the 53 at this point if he is truly a special teams only player.

I'd rather see Coleman on the 53. We don't need this guy. Let Coleman get some reps vs Washington.

Dekoda Watson was signed as a free agent, he was not claimed by anyone on waivers.

November 14, 2014 Released LB Keith Smith. Signed LB Dekoda Watson.

Jacksonville waived Watson on November 11th.

If they signed him after he cleared waivers then he is likely a free agent next year. If they claimed him on waivers then he is under contract for next season.

OTC shows Watson is on a two year deal. The $1.25M base salary next year is a little steep for a special teams players, but if Watson is a core guy, I'm can live with it.

Watson's very churnable.

He could get axed this week, next week, early next year, after the draft or during training camp.

I do find it odd they kept him around despite the fact the guy has barely played or practiced since getting signed. They must really want to keep him around for next season, I guess.
